Getting more and more interested on the Mavic 3 Classic! ActiveTrack feature’s performing so well!
@ChristiaanRoest792 жыл бұрын
I think the skydio tracking is better. The active track of the Mavic 3 is good but these sensors doesnt always recognizes tree branches well. KZbinr DCRainmaker for example always crashes his Mavic 3 (also the classic in his latest video) during his active test testflights. There is some work to do for DJI to optimize the obstacle avoidance.
@TheDeadlyraptor2 жыл бұрын
Skydio doesn’t always see branches too it’s limitations of optical vision. I seem to remember a Skydio on DC rainmaker dropping in the canal after hitting a branch .
@izoyt2 жыл бұрын
skydio crashes to wires and branches also (trees with full grown leafs etc are different, can be picked by sensors much better), tons of videos about that. it is better as tracking drone/action cam, but it has very erratic, non cinematic movements, it's not foldable (major selling point of any mavic drone) and it has same small sensor as you find in regular middle budget smartphones. where this is almost pockatable m4/3 sensor flying camera, which costs 7k+ anywhere outside dji world. so please do a bit reality check first.. p.s. to be fair, to use drone as a single pilot with beacon only, where drone fly automatically, and you don't have full-time visual on the drone, you fail to full fill first basic rule in any drone regulation out there. funny, nobody have guts to say this publicly, where i bet anything, if this would be a dji (aka chinese) drone, this would be all over the tube. so predictable...

I have always wanted to use the DJI drones to track while cycling my recumbent trike. This drone can't do it. The Mini 3 pro, Mavic Air and Mavic Pro 2 couldn't either. My Skydio 2 tracks accurately and effortlessly with just a gps beacon with no need to hold a screen. I recently learned that DJI active track is designed to follow people and vehicles only. There are lots of scenarios where the DJI active track simply won't work.
@driewiel2 жыл бұрын
Not sure, but I think Skydio uses a combination of (optical) active-track and (GPS) follow-me constantly. While DJI refuses to enable follow-me. I must say, this Mavic 3 footage looks more calm, cinematic than the Skydio which goes all over the place. Skydio to me also appears a bit large and loud. My dream is a tiny drone that follows me on the busiest bike trails and through town.
@nekez2327 Жыл бұрын
@@driewiel is there any drone that does that?
@driewiel Жыл бұрын
@@nekez2327 No there isn't. Not yet. Skydio could do it but it is much too loud and big. You can use a 360 camera to have that 'drone' effect. Or put a drone on a long stick and knock people unconscious. As long it doesn't fly it is legal.

@RobertWildling2 жыл бұрын
Good question, I would like to know that, too! However, when you draw the rectangle, the DJI software recognises "only" a car or a person (maybe on a bike). I guess that's an indication that a drone will not be recognised...

Very cool. The one improvement I can think of is when the tracking loses you (walking up the mountain). It would be nice if, when the tracking located you again, rather than quickly jolting the camera angle to put you back to a specific spot on the screen, it would have a slower, more gradual re-centering. Other than that, nice stuff.
@shiftyblake30382 жыл бұрын
Somebody said that using break instead of bypass eliminates this as the drone is less twitchy but haven’t tried it yet.

@@DMProductions Mini 2 does a pretty good job at GPS follow-me with Litchi or Dronelink from what I have seen. While DJI only adds optical active-track. In real life situations like a bike tour follow-me is simply more reliable when you don't want to spend an hour on a 20 seconds shot.

The active track 50M thing, Is that EU only or applies outside as well? Also you said "start" active track inside 50M. Does that mean it can go outside the bubble when its tracking you? Thanks for the video!
@DMProductions2 жыл бұрын
Yes it can track you any distance but it has to stay within a 50m bubble so if you track you and then push it back 60m away you will get a message on the screen saying it has to track you within 50m away
@RobertWildling2 жыл бұрын
You made some things clear about Active Track, like that distance bubble. I was always very confused that the DJI app didn't recognise me when drawing the rectangle. I always had to come very, very close, and, as you say, that takes away the environment the person is in. Will try again after this update... Is that an Engwe bike you have there?

Nice video, Many thanks. One thing with my Air 2S that I have never got to work is Active track when on a boat. I have tried everything, from having sails up/down, tracking me instead of the boat, wearing different colour clothes etc. It just whooshes in and out constantly, to the point it has hit my mast, even with collision on. It tracks me, cars, bikes etc with no issues, its just on a boat!!! My old original Mavic was fine, just the Air2S has this issue. I have no other drones to compare to. I am hoping that the Mavic 3 will be better, but do you know of any issues with Activ track on water?

@DMProductions Жыл бұрын
in eu yes, but tbh once the drone is further than 50m away from you it will struggle to keep lock anyway, it can track you for the length of the battery but furthest distance is 50m from you NOT the starting point

Proud multiple/only drone owner... but have to say, other than wide open spaces (like a lake or ocean), I won't buy a DJI drone for this purpose. If accident avoidance/active track is where you earn your bacon, really need to go with Skydio (and I don't even own one of their drones). Like most things, your needs case should dictate your drone purchase. IMHO. Great content .. very much appreciate it.

Can you fly this drone in the same place as you can fly a mini 3 pro I’ve looked on Google about this, and I find it very confusing. Any help will be greatly appreciated.. thank you for the video🙂🙂
@avi8tor3302 жыл бұрын
Hi Denny, as far as I know the differences compared to the mini 3 pro (under EU law) are: No flight OVER uninvolved people, however no minimum distance (zero meters) + test certificate (A1/A3) mandatory + remote ID broadcasting must be activated. Hope this helps and is very similar to UK laws. Cheers from Germany

Got really excited about this Drone. Was even going to get it for XMAS. BUT now the CAA will not recognise the C1 label after 1st Jan 2023, what's the point. Turns into a legacy drone keep everything 50m away, gutted.
@DMProductions2 жыл бұрын
CAA and DFT are the most useless organisations going, if you get the A2COFC course ( costs about £75 ) you can fly the mavic 3 classic with only a 50m separation from uninvolved so you can still fly the best drone in the uk
