Great video. I just received the Polarpro Cinema Series 6 pack. Instinctively I left the gimbal lock on as it seemed to be the best process. They are definitely a little hard to get on and off but overall I think I made the right choice with PolarPro. Great instructions for dialing in the settings after installation. This definitely seems to be a great way to go. Meaning, just hold the Mavic up and see what it sees first. This will save me some time for sure. Thanks! Rob

Funny, a buddy of mine told me to just hold the filter in front of a white screen on the computer monitor and twist it. This worked perfectly too and I was able to make a note of what position the filter needs to be in for the effect to take place. I wished that all three were the same with the text at 12 o'clock or 6 o'clock but the ND4PL is just 90 degrees off, so text on the side at 3 or 9 o'clock. I was trying to figure it out looking through them with the naked eye at all different light sources. As soon as I held them in front of the monitor and twisted them, BAM, instant darkness. I'm still going to double check myself using your method though. Just put it on and see what the Mavic sees. Well, as soon as I can get a sunny day..........

dude! Great video. Just one tip which i picked up from another video on here. Before putting your ND Filter onto the gimbal, bring it up to your eye and look through it. Look at your subject and turn the filter 'around the clock' until you find 12 o clock! What I mean by 12 o clock is when the subject looks perfectly filtered and cinematic, remember that point and mount it to your gimbal! Let me know if you try this out and what your thoughts are ! PEACE

They are all captured to the SD card on the Mavic. With the legs folded out, you can see a small flap on the side where the RC / WIFI switch is. Thats where your SD card is stored. Simply take out the card and use an adapter to plug it into your computer.

Thank you for this awesome instructions on Polarpro ND filters and your video is the reason why I invested on these filters. I recently bought these filters but I'm having a hard time figuring out where exactly the sweet spot for the ND/PL. Polarpro should have put some kind of markings on these filters so it will be just a snap on instead of trying to figure out each time where the exact polarization on these filters and not to mention, it's already slippery to hold and I've must of dropped it many times. Good thing it's still intact. I saw one video by Ed Ricker, on how to look into the filter then turn the filter until it gets dark then put them on the mavic lens. I tried this but I don't know if I'm doing it right. Is there anyway you can make a video on what's the easiest way to put these ND with Polarization filters on. I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

ND Filters help slow down your shutterspeed to give the video a more natural looking motion blur. The brighter the day, the higher the ND filter needed to slow that shutterspeed down. Watch my Spark video as I talk more about what they do.
@MehrabS6 жыл бұрын
Would you recommend buying a set of ND filters (8, 16, 32) or ND-PL filters (4, 8, 16)? Also, how often are you in a situation where you would need an ND4 filter?

Thank you for the excellent video. Do you have any videos to show where you've used the Polarpro Circular Polarizer on the DJI Mavic Pro ? I'm a retired professional photographer and have used ND filters and Circular Polarizers in still photography for better colour saturation and reducing reflection. The question is the rotation of the CP, as the best saturation for the whole scene, the angle of the subject in relation to the position of the sunlight (90 Degrees). The CP filter has to be rotated for best results.

Thank you so much for a great video. One question - With the Mavic Pro over the sea, as in this video, do you turn off the Vision Positioning System as some reccomend? Have you had any scary moments with the Mavic over water?
@FlytPath7 жыл бұрын
I would only turn it off if I plan to fly really close to the water. At the height I was at (approx 30-40 ft up) the Vps would come into play. If under 5-10 feet the sensors may alter your flight.
@WatchDog17767 жыл бұрын

Newbie here! What is the end goal of putting the ND filter on? What look does it create? I guess I'm not seeing a lot of difference. Great video. Just trying to understand it!
@FlytPath6 жыл бұрын
Its a subtle change but the idea to bring your shutter speed down to create a more natural motion blur in your video footage. If the shutter speed is too fast, your video footage will look too crisp and unnatural to the eye. Think of it like in still photography where a high shutter speed freezes your photo and slow shutter gives you natural blur movement.

What are your thoughts on the ND filters with Polorizer(ND/PL). I see that companies like PolarPro and Sandmarc have both, why is it that you chose just the ND rather than the ND/PL's? Are there reasons you use one over the other?

If you shoot a lot of water or places that have glare or reflection, the PL ones can help.

For clarification, what settings would I use for an ND8? That’s what I think I would use most. I took some notes because this was a great vid. Thanks if you respond
@716calvin6 жыл бұрын
Reply?
@FlytPath6 жыл бұрын
Nd 8 would be good for slightly cloudy days. The objective is to lower your shutter-speed. So depending on outside light, an 8 might work or possibly higher if it get real bright.
@716calvin6 жыл бұрын
FlytPath so either way, settings are always the same? For whatever filter I’m using? Because what I’m getting is the higher the number, the more light blocked out, but same settings as for iso and shutter speed- 2x frame rate
@FlytPath6 жыл бұрын
Switch to manual and not auto for exposure. Then determine your shutterspeed based on your video FPS. So if you want to record 30fps Video, manually move your shutterspeed to 60. Then look at your screen. Choose the right nd filter to use in order to achieve proper exposure. It could be 8, 16,32. All depends on how bright the day is
@716calvin6 жыл бұрын
FlytPath ok. I’m thinking where I live, an 8 or 16 would be appropriate as a default. Thanks for the clarification. I’ll be watching more of your videos from now on. 😀
@spl19493 жыл бұрын
Hi. At 4:34 the app says you are underexposed by -2 EV, at ISO 100 and 60. Shouldn't you be using an ND 16 filter if that's the case? Maybe an ND 4? Or am I missing something? Love your videos.

When I put my ND filter on before I turn on the mavic, the gimbal gets stuck. It’s on properly and everything. I heard the earlier ND filters from PolarPro have to be put on while the drone is on but seems dangerous...
@FlytPath6 жыл бұрын
Can you explain gets stuck? You will want to have the filter on pushed all the way to the back before powering on.
@biggajohn246 жыл бұрын
FlytPath when calibrating, it seems like the camera/ND hits against part of the gimbal while calibrating. Causing a failed calibration. But I think it’s because I have the older model of the ND’s from PolarPro and they’re supposed to be put on while it’s on which scares me lol
