YOU SAVED MY DRONE. I was filming some great shots and I saw a flock of birds approaching, and at first, it was so cool. But then I realized they were attempting to attack it. Luckily I was watching your video last night and instantly went into sport mode, and went straight down. THEY COULDNT GET TO IT.

@RaedAlibi3 жыл бұрын
You mean straight up right?
@gunter16263 жыл бұрын
Raed Alibi's advice was "straight up". Don't go straight down. Never. First, you might hit an obstacle in panic-mode. Second, some bird have specialized in attacking the pray by falling on it like a stone. Also, some birds always attack opposite of the sun so they don't cast a shadow. Clever little animals!
@RaedAlibi3 жыл бұрын
Yesss! I second this 👍
@heyjonjoebailey3 жыл бұрын
I remembered that it was straight up, but it was an entire flock of Starlings - they were moving as a flock so going up I would’ve ran into the entire flock, so I figured the concept was still the same, which - the theory worked because they couldn’t all turn sharply because of how big of a mass they were in. Also, I was in a wide open field and the drone was right above me with my gimble faced down!
@andreasjung36123 жыл бұрын
Point 1 - absolutely disagree. Good drone shot is all about right light (equals right daytime) and right angle. Finding right angle is not always easy, frequently you can not plan it ahead unless you actually climb into the air. So when you are in a new place the spare batteries are essential to have these additional minutes to roam the area looking for the best perspective. It is way more important than ND filters.
@RaedAlibi3 жыл бұрын
I still think it's possible to plan the shot ahead, I use an app called Kakao Map, which shows you the location in 3D. I also use another app to see the location of the sun and the weather conditions at a specific time (the day of the shoot), to see what lighting conditions should I expect. That saves time inevitably, cz most of the time I get things right, and I don't have to figure out the shots on the spot. I also mentioned later on in the video ( 01:41 ) that an extra battery is definitely helpful to have, and here's why: even if you plan well, sometimes conditions change, unexpected things come up, or you realize that you can't fly from a certain position and you had to move to another one, then you have to improvise and figure it out on the spot. An extra battery then comes in real handy, just like you said. Thank you for pointing it out though, made me realize that I was brief, should've mentioned it more clearly.

I can't really answer this question because I used to live in south Korea when I shot this video, the country of Wifi everywhere, even in the woods (Not Kidding), also there alot of mountains and trees, so interference is pretty much everywhere I fly. What ND filters do you use?
@RaedAlibi3 жыл бұрын
I use SunnyLife ND filters for the drone. They're fine but they need extra care. The glass is easy to scratch and if you clean them with a random cloth. The shots becomes foggy and blured out. Make sure you clean them with the same cleaning kits that we use for camera lenses. However I would recommend PGYtech nd filters, I doing a give a away in a new video, and i'm giving the PGYtech nds to a lucky winner. The video will be out 2 hours from now, maybe you wanna get them for free! I recommend them!

Super helpful video mate, thank you for getting straight to the point and being so honest. Amazing advice on birds. But could I ask you - in your experience, how likely is a drone crash (e.g. DJI Mini 2) to happen due to the drone glitch/failure, rather than operator error or a bird attack? I'm asking - how often do engine failures, propellers falling off, etc happen? Any insight here would be most appreciated mate. Thanks again
@RaedAlibi2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I appreciate the kind comment! To be honest I had the mini 1 and 2 for a long time and i never had any issues with the them "mechanically" the only issues that i had was "motors rotating so fast" warning with the dji mini 1, and later i discovered that it was my fault, becasue i was using those rubber propeller guards and they were elastic. so they kept pushing on the legs and bent them slightly with time. so i don't recommend using those propeller guards. other than that, i recommend to always calibrate your drone even if it doesn't ask for it, change the propeller as soon as you had them dameged, and you'll be good to go! :)

Your advice is good. Birds tried to attack my mini 2 also, seagulls. I brought it down quick in a panic from 150 ft. The birds came right down after it in a spiral fashion and then gave up within twenty feet of the ground.
@RaedAlibi3 жыл бұрын
Oh yes! Seagulls are vicious. Glad you saved it! By the way, the Mini fly fast upwards and very slow downwards, did you notice? That's why it's better to fly it up when it's under attack. Also, birds are mostly active in sunrise and sunset, so I'm mostly careful when I'm flying around those times. A paradox! Haha 😄 Best times to shoot but worst times to fly 👀

How restrictive are the drone regulations in Korea? Do you have to have a special license or pretty free to fly recreationally?
@RaedAlibi3 жыл бұрын
It's very strict here, there's a korean app that we use to know what locations we're not not allowed to fly in, it's called 드론풀라이. A sub 250g drone is ok to fly without license. The biggest bummer us that we're not allowed to fly in national parks without permission, they have powerful wifi drone killers 📶, but national parks are the most beautiful places to fly in 😒, but overall it's fun to fly here
@pmh1nic3 жыл бұрын
@@RaedAlibi Technical in the U.S. you can’t take off and land in National Parks. I’m not sure if you can take off outside the park and fly over but I wouldn’t risk it. Thanks for the great footage.

The wifi killers are hard to predict, so even if you take off outside and land outside, there's no guarantee that you won't loose the drone. I flew in some parks but only parks where people flew before, nothing bad happened ... @RaedAlibi2 жыл бұрын
No idea how this occurred since I always record in the drone SD card. what happened to me once was that I lost signal, my drone shuts off due to critical battery l found the footage but the file was damaged and couldn't open it. Recording on the phone app is not a good idea since it result in low quality footage. so I recommend to record in an SD card and to keep the phone recording just as a backup incase you lose the drone or something.

@RaedAlibi2 жыл бұрын
If you're talking about the new RC Smart controller that di made, I don't recommend it. It has low-quality screen recording, its brightness is very low on sunny days, can barely see the screen, and battery life is not good. I can't really judge the old expensive one since I have never used it before. wait and get a regular refurbished controller, or try to get a used one. although it's gonna be hard since DJ now is promoting the new RC controller, so they make the regular one hard to find. Quick question brotha. At the end of your video I see you using your phone to record audio. What app are you using!? It actually sounds pretty good.
@RaedAlibi3 жыл бұрын
To be honest that was a lazy move from me. The audio wasn't that good, I just worked on it in davinci resolve to make it sound better. But hey, few tips on using your phone as a mic is to hold the phone upside down so mic faces you. Put your hand around the bottom edges to cover it from wind interference, and don't hold it too close to your mouth. That's all I do on set, but later in davinci resolve I work on it toake it sound better. And by the way. I did a mistake here on this video: phones record on only one channel, so later in post you need to change it to the left and right channel. If you have any other questions lemme know. I also forget to do the research where I'm flying and often just do drone footage and forget to do the ground footage which like you say can break up your footage and not be as boring and keep the viewer interested.

Hey man great video. My Q is that I think the mini 2 could be a great option (I already have the original mavic pro). I like that the mini 2 is so small - a main reason for wanting to go with it but I am concerned it is SO SMALL that I might struggle to see it clearly in the sky when flying it - esp given it's light grey colour. Have you found that an issue?
@RaedAlibi3 жыл бұрын
To be honest, it's so fast to lose sight of the Mini 2, you're right! I was considering to buy some lights and stick it on it for better visibility, but I'm not sure how much that's gonna affect the weight. I thought a skin might help too but I had a skin on my DJI Mavic Mini and it didn’t make such a big difference. Maybe I'll dedicate a video for this topic. Thank you for the kind words and the awesome questions though I appreciate it 🙏
@lloserr94673 жыл бұрын
i have read that the color is intentionally that color to make it blend in with the sky. you don't need to see it to fly it since you have the first person footage on your phone. but like he said if you want to see it better maybe go with a skin? there are some red ones, bright orange, even yellow and black "caution" ones.
@OGKush8312 жыл бұрын
I was thinking about the same thing before I purchased the mini 2 yesterday but then realized that it's not required to register this drone since it's so small and don't think some rules apply for the small craft. Which keeping it in your line of sight should fall in that category. I think it's a safe practice and better off keeping it in eyes view but camera quality seems good to be able to avoid obstacles if needed. Plus, if you don't feel comfortable flying the drone on just the screen alone. One is probably not experienced enough flying it and shouldn't be going that fat out in the 1st place. Happy flying!

Hi Raed. Great video. I especially liked the ascending trick against bird attacks. So far I've been pretty careful around birds and they have't really tried attacking the drone, but you just never know. My worst experience was crashing into a tree and having to replace a ribbon cable for the gimbal. But got it done and the Mini 2 still works magic. Subscribed to see more of your content.

It depends on where you live, but sounds like you have a plan! I live in South Korea currently, it's hard to gain customers trust if you're not korean. They simply don't wanna deal with foreigners cz they expect communication barriers. So what I do is I visit low rated pensions, hotels or resorts that don't have aerial videos or photos on their social media, I stay there a day, take some nice shots and edit it to a 30 seconds reel, and I show them the work when I check out. They usually get very impressed, offers me a future free stays, pay for that footage, or ask me for info contact. They usually recommend me to their friends or other businesses. I only do this in summer season and it's some extra cash (not alot) and it's fun too. I think for your real estate business this could be a good trick to start ...

Great video!! Adding an input about birds. My little MM was 50m up and 500m away when I noticed a pair eagles circling lazily 1km away. One of them suddenly went up high. I knew I was going to get hit. Yup it swooped down as I was returning home at sports mode. Hit my MM about 30m away !!! Broke all 4 legs and the gimbal set in the subsequent crash. Yes Raed, birds and the MM don't mix
