Great info, thank you! One question if you don't mind. If you had to pick the most perfect filter to use on a Mini 3 in very bright sunlight, what would you "default" too? I've heard to use an ND 64 for that but that is one opinion. Also, do you recommend using a combo ND 64 with polarization? Thank you .

Well made video ! I'm just surprised you didn't talk about the LPR filter, as it is the one "recommended" I believe for night shots. I'd appreciate your take on that. Cheers.
@lakshyakumarsah939611 ай бұрын
LPR is not needed at all because if you have a nd64&PL then it will capture more stunning shots on night than an LPR IT will be cheaper than an LPR 🤑Hacks😁😁

Nice video. What about quality, does using filters improve the quality of the photo or does it not matter? Does the ND filter add only motion blur to photos/videos?
@shegocrazy5 ай бұрын
Filters are better but the trick is to find the correct strength. Iso won't go below 100, so if it is set to auto iso in pro mode with 60fps shutter then the scene can't be so bright that the exposure iso and ev +/- can't compensate. The filter you selected might need to go darker than you expected on the ground.
@tominexile5 ай бұрын
In general, if you're shooting at 30 fps you'd want to set your shutter speed at 1/60, and 60 fps at 1/120. That's using manual mode though. As you said, the trick is to find the right filter strength which may be different in the air vs. the ground.

Thank you for a great video. Also, thank you for an excellent, professional delivery. We in Europe don’t really like how some of your compatriots deliver content with generic, almost drug-charged, hyper-speed talking and arms flailing like they’re having a fit. I have subscribed because your style, and your authoritative delivery with clear examples is superb, well done and thank you!

Yes to something on CPL and PL filters and H and V settings. No idea what any of that is and wouldn't want a jumbo pack of filters to only use maybe four main ones.

Waiting for the Flipping Flagrant Freewell Ultra Max Mega Mondo pack - that actually has ND8's - bit I did learn a good workaround for when you are missing some ND levels. Per Polar Pro, setting ISO 200 will roughly halve an ND in the 8-64 range. In my example above, ND 16 + ISO 200 nets a near ND8 #of stops light reduction..with this trick who needs $150 set?

Question: what if the settings are on Auto at 4K 30, and you use ND32 or ND64 on a bright sunny day instead of using Manual/Pro settings? How will that affect ’motion blur’?
@xavier_arthur Жыл бұрын
It's hard to say because in auto mode you give the camera complete control to adjust either the iso or the shutter! So who knows what the camera will do 🤷 Plus in order to pick the right filter, you should set up your camera settings first to 4K 30 and 1/60 shutter, then try different filters to see which one gets you closest to zero exposure or in my case -7 exposure, I don't like zero exposure, I think it's too bright! Don't be afraid of manual settings! The more you play with it the better you'll get 💪
@BlairAir Жыл бұрын
@dronexfactor 💪👏on -.7 multi-meter a -.7, or even -1.0 looks great and is easy to pull detail from shadows. If you look under the hood on DJI "normal" color on Pocket 3, it's 10 bit also. Not that anyone is throwing LUTs at non -D log M, but for talented types that know how to grade... talking about that X-factor now!
@georgenlewis9150 Жыл бұрын
@@xavier_arthur Thanks for responding. I would assume that an exposure of 0.00 with the right ND filter on a Sunny day would give you a perfect exposure and not too bright of a light. And No, I’m not scared of manual settings. I Would like to see a video demonstrating: Auto - 4K 30 - testing different ND filters - on a bright sunny day - with a moving subject. Please. Thanks.
@xavier_arthur Жыл бұрын
@georgenlewis9150 In theory zero exposure would be perfectly balanced but it all depends on how well the camera was tuned. Same thing with using ND filters in auto, it depends on how well the camera was programmed, if it's programmed to adjust the shutter or the iso first or to adjust both of the same time 🤷 You can try it and monitor both the iso and the shutter for changes. The reason manual is the best way to go, is because under whatever circumstances you test it, it might do a good job but then on in other circumstances it might not do what you want 😭 Manual alleviates any room for error. I hope this makes sense. Also check out this video where you can see two different drones from two different brands not handling exposure perfectly at zero. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnjSmGWNdseIq9ksi=ocTQfKREtrkMyy-x

First, a person would never use most of the filters included in the Freewell pack, maybe 3 or 4 at most. I think the All Day pack of six filters would be great for most people, but the 16 filter kit is just overkill. Seeing as how you have an affiliate link, I suspect that's why you'd want to steer people to the most expensive pack. Second, I wouldn't exactly call them "for beginners" given the price, and the fact that the Mini 4 Pro (which I just purchased with the Fly More pack) isn't exactly cheap itself. But hey, just my opinion, and as they say, opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.
