Saw that other video to use the red reflective tape to keep birds away. The large birds (hawks and eagles) will get close to the drone (50 to 100 feet (15 to 30 meters) and then fly off as if they lost interest in it. Also mounted a Firehouse strobe to the underside just forward of the battery. I can easily see this flashing light up to 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) away at night (I fly in the country "pitch black" and look down at distant homes, moving vehicles and businesses. Not taking pics or video. Just exploring. The "H" showing the home point really helps me find my way back through the blackness of the night.

Spotlight is awsome and I use it for fantastic orbits or jib shots. It's witchcraft I've also got the same tape on my drone and so far the gulls are leaving me alone. Just got a small strip on the top and it's working.

Very nicely set up contribution and yes I also use spotlight very often and it is so great. Video is good, your voice is good and clear articulation so a foreigner can also understand it well. Just well done! Greetings from the Netherlands.

Not that you were a maniac before, but I've seen a pleasant difference between your pre- and post-detox on-screen presence. I like it over the over-amped youtube creators' usual cage match narration. I lean into yours.

Thanks Brian. Yes I think a lot of people are sick of TikTok, Reels. So a more chilled out long form is becoming a way to diverge

I've had bird issues in the past so have ordered some tape from your link. Always like watching your videos to learn how others create using the different settings. Freehand and spotlight are my usual methods. I don't like to over rely on the presets. I hope the detox worked.

Great video tutorial... I have Mini 4 Pro now and only done one flight after purchasing and getting some updates, need to check for more updates over the weekend. Bird strikes..... I nearly had one with my Mini 3 Pro a few videos ago and it was Pigeons homing in on it. Wonder if Red Gaffer tape would have helped.

I have red reflective tape on my drones also and never had issues with birds. It may be a coincidence, but in doubt…

Interesting video. Hope the the drone is still under 250g with tape on it. I’m not on any other social media than youtube, so I have only recently found this channel, few days ago. Realistic information presented and not too tech.👍

Hi Ian, brilliant video once again. It's a feature I've tried but didn't get along with. Might have to give it another go. Would love a video tutorial on transitions between shots please, as I feel not having one can be a bit jarring but having them all the time looks bad.

Another top video. Let us know how the red tape goes 👍

Thank you for the advice. And by the way, if you want your drone to be red to scare birds away, a cooler way to do it is to buy one of those custom drone skins.

Hi Ian. I've seen Brad's video about repelling bird attacks too. My issue with it is that the Mini 4Pro is just under 250g and that reflector tape just makes it too heavy. So, as for me the C0 label and not having to take an exam for A2 category are the main reason not to apply that tape. It also prevents to tape a small LED stroboscopic light to be able to take "night shots" with the drone as they will make it too heavy. Anyway, thanks for the tips about the necessity of varying your shots.

Has anyone ever had a bird attack? The sound of the props and the sting if they get close to the props will send them off

I guess it’s called Scotland because it’s not Bali.🤔😂 I’ve heard the red tape trick from other sources too. I haven’t tried it. I do have predators (American Bald Eagle and Hawks) behind my property where I usually launch from. Thanks for the great cinematography tips. I will definitely add these to my future flights. P.S. There are some really cool Skins available for applying to the Mini series drones. Some solid colors including red.👍

As a beginner, I have to say thank you very much for your tips... I've been able to use some of them. It's just that my videos always look muddy in final cut, but the original material is sharp and good... I don't know why that is :( I'm going to freak out :( Maybe you can do a tutorial on how to edit your videos in final cut or something...

Thanks Dan. I’ve got a colour grading tutorial already up that’ll work for any drone in final cut

I need someone’s feedback. I live in the USA and there has been progress in banning DJI drones for both consumer and federal levels. Should I still get one now?
@cpnmisfit Жыл бұрын
Still say yes. The move is primarily at the governmental and federal agency level. Most of the bug US companies like Skydio( who are the main ones that lobied for this change) have started shifting away from consumer drones.
