The Neo isn’t about goggles, the fly more combo in the uk (£300) comes with controller, 3 batteries etc So comparing to the far more expensive fpv stuff is completely missing the target audience for an entry level drone. Of course the Avata will be a better product it’s way more expensive, bigger, heavier etc

Its an easy way to start FPV. You don’t have to buy the goggles, but most people use them for situational awareness. It is much better to be seeing a massive FOV in goggles than a tiny display.

Comparing Neo to Avata is good and bad. Good comparison for folks who want to grow with the drone - from newb to pro. Bad comparison for folks who just want to try some "drone stuff", quick vacation shots etc. Bottomline, if you are concerned about quality, performance and want the best ROI - It's avata If you just want to compact drone for casual fun, then it's Neo.

Exactly. I bought a DJI Mavic air 2 flymore and went all in too early. Ended up selling it coz I never used it. Really shouldn't have bought it as it was over kill for me. This one however is perfect for my needs, which is take on holidays for quick shots - what basically my Air 2 used to do. That was a biggish bag to lug around

The avata 2 cannot be flown everywhere due to legal weight restrictions. The neo can be flown virtually anywhere.

Hi, I have just bought the NEO for its portability to add to my kit that includes the Avata 2 and Mavic Air 2. The Avata 2 doesn’t have obstacle avoidance but it does have downward positioning sensors. 😊

The Avata 2 doesn't have any obstacle avoidance, that back fisheye cameras are for stabilisation when you don't have gps (ex. Inside a house)

I have the old Mavic Pro with the whole setup, spare batteries case and all the other accessories. I've gotten amazing vacation shots as an amateur, but the Neo seems really appealing to me. It seems like a small and quick drone I can toss into the same camera bag for drone selfies. I can only speak for myself, but I would use it more like the HoverAir drone and follow me or take aerial selfies.

I'm looking at the Neo for the logistics of flying over people and moving vehicles. No matter what the weight is you'll need to register the aircraft if you're a content creator or any other business-related flights because you'll be a part 107 licensed pilot. I might research this a bit more to see if I really do need the accessories for what I need it for.

😊Its like the first mini drone HOVER X1 that DJI somewhat copied, very cool indeed. What I like about the HOVER X1 is that you can fold its wing and put it in your pocket, in small bag, or cargo pants pockets, and backpack. But great job DJi.

After looking at the optional add-ons for the Neo, the $200 drone itself looks more like an inexpensive, semi-attritable option, like a $200 acton camera mounted to the outside of a car, or somewhere it could be damaged/destroyed, without being a big loss.

I've tried a Neo using a phone. It definitely needs a cinematic mode, I just couldn't get close movement to a subject at a slower speed. I know the new Hoverair Pro Max does have this mode

I have an Avata 2 and its an excellent drone no question...But it doesnt have follow mode it needs to be flown which is useless if your by yourself and want to film some action shots of yourself.....So I own both.

Small corection the avata 2 has only downward and backward sensors, the are no front sensors to it...

Nothing mentioned about the sound the props make on the Neo. The Avata & Avata 2 sound like a swarm of bees. I want something quiet like the Mini pro 3. I already have the FPV Drone for fun/fast flying. The swarm of Bee's is actually a selling point, but there are outdoor settings I want to use a drone for where I don't want to startle people.

Already have the Avata 2 with the fly more kit with both the motion controller and the fpv3 controller, so I won’t have to buy the goggles or controller for the neo. I’m still thinking of getting a neo purely for the size and for flying through tight spaces. Plus it probably won’t scare people like the avata 2 might. Plus having the ability to use the autonomous follow feature is a great feature. I know its camera quality is nowhere near the Avata 2, but for fun it’s going to be brilliant. Your points are all valid , but I just want one.

The Avata 2 does not have obstacle avoidance..in the front....it only has a rearward and downward sensor.

What I did not hear you mention and it's a big deal, is that the remote ID in the neo is only for Japanese and Chinese markets. It does not work in the US. This is huge.

Just got mine on 6 Nov 2024 and on 2nd day it shows "Downward vision sensor error" Contact DJI service center, Just tell me it's irrepairable due to mainboard problem and no replacement. 😢Really disappointed with DJI. I think I answered my own question, DJI's site says it works with the RC 2. RC 2: $370, Goggles: $500 I've never used the goggles or the RC 2, I'm not sure I really want goggles. Do they make controlling the drone that much easier?

Hello, I am a rock climber and I was stuck with the idea I had to buy a gopro to film my ascents, I already have a Mini 3 but having my belayer holding me plus controlling my drone is kinda crazy work and unsafe so I barely use it while climb, but then I saw NEO actually tracks and follows you around and I need to know some specific stuff about the neo is scenarios like this: - Is it possible to have the NEO 5 to 7 meters away from me by standard or will it be 2 meters away from me like the videos I have seen of people walking? - Can it track my back? I mean, I will be facing the rock and climbing up, not walking foward. - Can it detect the surrounding environment? Other rocks, trees, whatsoever thats big enough for detection to avoid contact and damage? - Can it sustain at 20 meters high with 30km/h winds? - How though is the battery for 15/20 minutes climbs? Thank you!
