You've got some good results. I definitely prefer the images from the Action camera to the Insta 360. Definitely gives a more riders eye point of view. Audio is good. Think Moto UK still records his DJI wireless microphone to his handle bar mounted phone where he can easily see the levels. Wheelie Good TV also uses the DJI microphone & Action 3/4 We are still sticking to the Rode to Insta for our Audio and the helmet Action 3 just for the film. Think it's a case of finding what works best for you.

Thanks Richard and Carol, I may yet resort back to the Insta and Rode for audio. I'll try the Rode linked to the Action 4 first. I can't understand why the audio starts loud then cuts down? On the first couple of attempts it cut out altogether after a few seconds, so frustrating.

Thanks Grey Wolf, I enjoyed that ride, it was good to see the road in daylight and to experience it on a Rocket 3. I last took that road from Dunkeld on my way to Cornwall in November but it was almost completely dark. I've watched Alex's ride through Glen Quaich and must go that way myself, there's a good long loop I could do from Ardross through The Cairngorms, over to Connel and back up The Great Glen. I'm not sure that F-TYPE could see far enough ahead for that move, but the red car was going so slow you could have overtaken it on a pushbike! I had a lot of trouble with wind noise on my recent trips to Cornwall and Thurso, I got used to recording with good wind protection on my K1600 and GSA so I wasn't prepared for the naked Bullet 500 and the questionable screen on my Deauville, I'm working on it though. I wasn't noticing the wind too much on this video so I'd be interested to know what your mic setup is. Cheers, Mick

Cheers for watching and subscribing I'll return the favour 👍😊 I've got a Glen Quaich video coming up, just been to lazy to edit it. I was cautious to overtake the red car due to not being able to see what was coming around corners ahead and the road is notorious for fast bikes and cars. I doubt the F-Type driver had any better of a view, he just didn't care. I'd go through my set up but to be honest although it worked here it was hopeless on my KTM with its taller screen. Alex has been experimenting with my set up for me, I've yet to try it in a live test.
@5dTraveller8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the sub and I'll look forward to the Glen Quaich video 👍 I wasn't criticising you for not overtaking that car by the way because in those circumstances I wouldn't have either, I was just clumsily mentioning the cause of frustration for other drivers. I've had the same problems between a naked bike and one with a screen that creates turbulence. I'm using software to separate my voice from the background sounds and that works well for the voice but the bike and ambient sound is a mess. I'm going to try an audio recorder mounted well away from any wind for the background sounds, more work in editing but if it gets better sound it'll be worth it.

Such a hard thing to get right Mike. Seems to be working for you now, but super complicated. I run a seperate, wired zoom f2 audio recorder inside my helmet, with a lav mic deep inside the cheek pad. This is way better than the GoPro audio up to about 40 mph, but above 45mph my audio is not usable. I also have the challenge of syncing the seperate audio to the footage, which isn’t as difficult as it sounds once you are used to it. Still not happy with my set up, but suspect I am going to have to go back to a full face helmet to make the 50/60/70 mph audio improvements I want, but I really like an open face helmet. I’ll probably buy a cheap open face helmet to experiment with to see if I can get on with them again. Ride safe pal.

Thanks for your input Steve audio is a real minefield, hope you get a solution soon. I was surprised to be able to hear myself above national speeds but then I do have my mic well covered with fur and foam.

Picture quality is spot on given the grey overhead conditions, it will pop if we ever see the sun in our part of the world. What resolution did you end up using? Big leap forward on previous efforts on the sound front.

This is 2.7K 25fps as you suggested, I might just post the first video 4K 60fps for comparison.

99% perfect, so still waaaaay ahead of most! 🤬😂👍 I usually have my soundbar for my TV set at volume 14 & was fine for the first few seconds, but then had to increase to volume 24,but then pretty much perfect mate!!! 👍😬
@greywolf9292 Жыл бұрын
Thanks John, Yes I can't understand why the first few seconds comes over loud and clear, then it's like something decides it's too loud and cuts it. The first twice I tried this, starting at the same spot, I could hear birds chirping in the trees then nothing, audio completely cut. I normally only boost audio by 60% here it's boosted by 100%. I'll see how it goes with Mrs Wolf on the back using a different mic, that should give me an idea of how to find a balance. 🤔

Great ride in them rolling hills. Am I right in saying thats a 2.5 Ltr engine this motorbike has. Thats nearly twice the size of my car. but it's a stunning looking motorcycle. And that electronic dash is very suited to the style. For me as long as I hear the sound, the quality is not the most important I still watch video. As long as the message gets accross i'm fine with that. Thanks for sharing another one of your rides out. Nice work.
@greywolf92929 ай бұрын
Yes 2.5 litres it's a beast and a half although Triumph have engineered it perfectly, it's a Pussy Cat to ride. I don't mind the dash it is quite fitting but I'm an old school dual clocks fan. Though I cannot knock the TFT's and all the info at a glance, I think dual clocks would match the dual headlights better. I had a trial and a half trying to get audible audio with the DJI set-up. Here I chanced my luck a little speed wise in an effort to see if my voice could be heard over the wind. Considering what my ears were picking up I think the mic got a good bit of bike and voice through the wind. On the ZZR at national speeds conversation is just a waste of breath.

I listened to this on headphones, and I can understand you although I think there is some distortion on your voice. I read you description and saw you have the mic directly in the chin piece. I can't do that as I sound too breathy, so I stuff my mic into the cheek pad but still sound a bit breathy. The best sound I can ever get is when using a Zoom recorder with a mic in the helmet. I really don't want to do that as the syncing is faffey with all the separate files and ideally I need to record in the rain. Wet weather would discourage me from using the CJI transmitters. I haven't even opened the box yet on that Rode AI-micro so I'll have to let you know how that goes. The picture with the Action 4 is so good isn't it.

I haven't listened back to it since posting, I boosted audio by 100% prior to uploading, it was only boosted 60% when editing.

@@greywolf9292 I used to battle with audio levels changing between my earlier videos. Now I have all sorts of filters and levels set for each audio timeline, so now I can drop audio in from say a film, or camera and it all comes out the same level so I don't surprise the viewer with sudden level changes.

@greywolf9292 Жыл бұрын
@@BeansOnToast_YT I may have boosted audio too much by increasing it by 100%, there's distortion there that I didn't hear when editing at +60%. The part I don't understand is how it's loud and clear for the first few seconds, which I've actually reduced by 20% so as not to blow folks eardrums and be more in balance with when it suddenly reduces. Maybe if I make a video slating DJI over this they'll come up with a solution. Now that GoPro has Bluetooth audio capability the gloves are off.

Great place to ride that is Mike, spoilt that's for sure. I found the audio very quiet and slightly distorted. Gotta be the biggest PITA for us vloggers. Love that bike though👌👌
@greywolf9292 Жыл бұрын
Cheers Nige, I set the audio to 200% in post to try to boost volume I think that caused a bit of distortion. I can't understand why the audio started clear and loud for the first few seconds then cut to low and muted. On my first couple of attempts it did the same only No audio after the cut 😤

Very nearly their mate, just a slight amount of peaking, I sometimes get peaking that I can correct in post, might be worth lowering the microphone transmitter gain slightly to fix the peaking. Thanks buddy it's still a work in progress, I'm failing to understand why audio is loud and clear to begin with then suddenly drops like noise reduction has cut in ? Both my Rode wireless Go and DJI wireless mics have inbuilt recording but I'm trying to avoid having to stitch audio and video in post. I use my phone for editing but have now bought a laptop, so hopefully that'll add to my production values.

Hi Michael, sound is such a hard thing to get right on the bike. My set up is good up to about 50mph then after that, i tend to get some audio popping and wind noise. Your set up sounds good, picture quality whips the Gopros backside. If anything your voice is a little muffled but I'm sure a bit of tweeking to the microphone positioning could rectify this. All thd best. Sean

Cheers buddy, I've redone everything for my test on the GSX 1400. I need to reduce the gain a bit more as audio levels have gone the other way. For this one I had to boost volume to 200%, I've now removed one layer of wind protection, clearer voice but also more wind noise 🙄
