I didn't realized the action 4 is releasing this month. I think better dynamic range, sharper and brighter are very much welcomed on every new releases. Hopefully better battery life too!

I'm not sure why but I think on this video your export settings got messed up, some parts in the video have low quality parts, at first I thought it might be that the Action 4 isn't good but it is! I noticed that it mostly happens on fast moving and it includes the overlay texts you put, I did watch on 1080p (That's what my PC screen supports) really strange. anyway it happens only a few times so not a big deal. I honestly still prefer my GoPro11 though the magnetic attachments are awesome!! There's a rumor popping out after the Action 4 was released that GoPro12 will have a 1 Inch sensor, I doubt that but if they actually do that it might be a whole different level of quality! (yep, the modular insta360 also has a 1inch sensor but this camera didn't seem to do good enough job and my friend has it actually, I also reviewed it)

Hey Dima, great to read your thoughts on the OA4. I used the same export settings as I always apply but I'm also notice artifacts when watching in 1080p. Strange. Maybe it happens because KZbin converts the MP4s into their preferred format. Having always preferred GoPro ever since Generation 6, I am now a OA4 user for a while. Most likely the rumors are true - 1-inch will be not much more than last year's sensor, but it is interesting to see whether 4K 240FPS is true. It would well explain why DJI wanted OA4 to appear earlier and why DC Rainmaker criticizes the amount of updates. If GoPro update both the image sensor and the SoC this would be for the first time since Hero 6 if I am not mistaken. So let's see how it all goes 😊

@@TechMishka Is it me or action cameras getting exciting again? I just thought about the "artifacts" KZbin is pushing now the new "1080p premium" or whatever they call it so might be this one.. a 1 inch sensor should probably greatly improve low light performance as well.

I appreciate the review and am trying to decide between this and the Hero 11. I want to believe the reviews I'm watching but I just watched a review from DC Rainmaker who patently said the Action 4 just isn't as good as the Hero 11. Just looking for the best for making YT videos. Sigh.

Hmm, this is an interesting take. It really depends on what your priorities are. GoPro Hero 11 is right now only better about some slow mo resolutions. I will make sure to watch it and see his points. P.S. good to mention that through the years I have been a heavy Hero series user, and Action 4 is the first one to make me switch. Some quite interesting rumors about Hero 12 are flowing around lately though...

The lighting conditions were very challenging for the bike footage. No overheating signs here. And it is the hottest part of the year! 😊

GoPro has the option to let you upload your vids to their cloud - right now this is not offered by DJI.

The thing with the 4GB file is not related to a brand - it depends on the file system. Fat32 has this limit, exFAT doesn't. With Osmo Action 4 I was able to record files larger than that.

@@TechMishka I know the origin of the 4gb limit. But it’s their software that makes larger files impossible. Ok all my devices I have internally erases and reformed my 128gb microsd cards after updating firmware. Still 4gb breaks. I’ve since bean told action 4 breaks at 16gb (or maybe 17gb) files. I hope 🤞🏻 DJI updates firmware on Action 3. I won’t use DJI products anymore with this limitation. But, after giving them MANY thousands of dollars , I also won’t give them $400 MORE just to fix this problem that never should have existed. Insta360 etc left this insane FAT32 limitation behind YEARS ago. So, fingers crossed, they try to keep their best customers like me happy with a firmware update. @@iamnotapoet As I know, the insta 360 x3 will stop recording at about 30 minutes and after 15~20 seconds writting file interruption ,will continue to record. I think it is not good.

@@bigzhang yes, insta360 is a 30 minute split. And, yes, there is a break with lost video. I have come to accept this. I also wish insta would not split. And not lose seconds in between. But it is acceptable. When we shoot our BEERVlogs they all take about 20-40 minutes to shoot. And I always want 1 clip if possible. But, because we shoot with 2-3. Cameras it’s infuriating (and impossible) to deal with 18 (or more) clips from the 3 angles instead of 3. It has HUGE file management, file naming , timeline and unnecessary compound clips etc complications. It takes about 4 hours to edit this videos with insta360 source and 3 clips. And that is enough work. We don’t wanot and won’t accept more workload. We tried and just settled on Insta360 and/or iPhone source footage

Whilst it's an impressive little camera .. there is quite a bit of clipping to highlights I can see. Is there a HDR mode that I missed?

Confirming about the HDR - its capacity is now integrated with the regular video mode. The clipping might be because of my LUT - I used those from the DJI Mini 3 Pro since the d-log tuning is almost the same. If someone needs raw samples - I'll be happy to share, just send me an email.

It is the DJI Osmo Action 4 all the way. Only Ace Pro comes close. The Leica lens is cool, but focusing distance is too far.
