I think the pocket 3 is a great camera. DJI are really showing the camera world how it should be done. I am looking forward to testing the Action 5 when it arrives. It will be perfect for my metal detector and e bike reviews. Saying a big thank you from the skill school in the UK 👍

I’ve never experienced any overheating issues with my Dji action 3 or 4 cameras, so it’s probably due to me filming in 1080p 60fps. I usually film continuously for 1-1/2 to 3 hours in the outdoors in Florida, I’ve never had any heat related issues other than the rear lcd being turned off while filming due to heat. I was a GoPro fan, but I was so fed up with them shutting down within minutes from high heat or from low temps…it would shut off if it was cooler than 54 degrees Fahrenheit and warmer than 88. I had the hero session, hero 8, 9, and 10….but I gave them away after I tried out the Dji Osmo Action 3. I can’t say enough good things about my Dji Action cameras…they work flawlessly in 20 degrees Fahrenheit and up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit. No More GoPro for me….it was an expensive lesson to learn, but I’m definitely educated now and I’ve got a little extra money in pocket due to the lower costs of the Dji Action Cameras. I haven’t even mentioned the looong battery life of Dji, it DEFINITELY blows GoPro out of the water!

I have 3 Osmo Action 3 and all have overheating issues. They all start to get too hot at around 12 min. After that it takes a long time to cool down. Otherwise the cam overheates again after 3-5 min. So regarding my expiriences it`s an issue. But I also had one Gopro 7 and three Gopro 9. The 9 was a nightmare. It was overheating too, was freezing quit a lot and also had trouble with resolution after some time of use. Regarding Stabilisation and Low light the Gopros were better than my Osmo Action 3. I usualy record in 2,7k and 60fps, Rocksteady+

Though I like Dji more than Gopro due to its features, I still want Gopro to step up their game so that DJI will stay competitive with their products.

Not a great improvement from action 3? A 65% sensor increase is not a major improvement? do you even use this camera? I have had all the cameras from gopro 4 black until 12... i've used them on fpv quads and motorcycles... stripped them down to naked gopros(gp bones)... but action 4 on night is far more better than the gp12!!! i go for action 4 over the gp12 without any doubt, this only in the scenarios where i can't use blackmagic or red cameras !!!! and another thing... in camera stabilization is shit both on the dji and gopro.. this is done in post much much better with metadata from the gyro sensor. Please provide accurate information, this is only a click bait video.

The dji doesn't have over heating problems like the gopro the low light beats gopro plus the battery life .

Only 3 directions from here. Higher megapixels (cause why not) Larger sensor (cause why not) Better heat management. A nice feature would be multiple wireless mics without the need for an external receiver, but I doubt we'd see this feature.

My main issue with the Action 3 is the video length limit (around 10min depending on resolution) and automatic file separation which you can NOT merge together in post lossless, which is horible if you do i.e. interviews with it. Action 4 apparently hasn't solved that problem (main reason why I haven't upgraded)

overheating is a big problem for osmo action and go pro also.when you record on hot tropical weather they over heat both after 15 minutes of recordings,i test them both osmo 4 & gopro12 on philiphines,bali,maldives,egypt,madagascar & africa.they should integrated aluminum or copper heatseank in camera to stick outside to cool procesor.recording by night is so grainy for osmo no much exposure.underwater filming is still not ideal for osmo but im still fan of osmo action over go pro i hope they will resolve all issue and i will buy a new model if not i will stick with old model action 4.

Returned my OA4 last month. Got sucked in with all the praising YT videos not realising that possibly every single one would have been sponsored. Was dissapointed with quality compared to my GP8. Texture and detail was just missing from clouds, road surfaces, grass and snow. I think sensor probably picks details up but processing and likely the compression just lost it. Final straw was the EU firmware update bringing the max heat shutdown to 48degrees, in line with EU regulations. I certainly like the design and slightly wider angle Len’s than the GoPro but footage quality wise I don’t think it comes close to the GP11 I returned it for (albeit in not in very low light). Had none of the DJI influencer reported over heating or freezing issues with the GP11 so far. Will be interesting to see if OA5 is any better, still keeping an open mind.

The Action 5 needs to be a total redesign from the ground up, preferably keeping a similar form factor. The Action 3's poor IMU design poured over to the Action 4 making it overly sensitive to engine vibrations. That translates in poor performance of the Horizon Balancing when rigged directly to a motor vehicle such as a boat. DJI knows how to make a good camera, they need to focus on making that good camera that functions well under a variety of true action scenarios.

I really doubt action 5 would have 1 inch sensor might be action 6 would. Sales of pocket 3 would be disrupted if action 5 has 1 inch sensor. Currently pocket 3 is out of stock everywhere and dji would love to keep that hype. Even if we get jitter free footage at night like ace pro that would be great upgrade to action 4 and better heat management.

If I want to create action videos, I need an action camera. If I want to create vlogs such as travelogues, instructions or interviews, I use the Pocket. The two have different purposes and are therefore not in competition with each other.

I had Gopro7, this was my favourite camera that died, so it has been replaced with GP8. As it has changed the shape, I had to buy mediamods and all the accessories again! So pitty. Also the GP8 was much more contrasty, and FLAT profile wasnt that flat anymore. Then I needed one more camera, so I decided to sell GP8 and bougth 2 pcs of GP10. This was the biggest mistake i made. It freezes every single ride! Battery capacity is just joke. It shows 30% and turned off. It´s hot that you can fry eggs on it (I am motovlogger). So I bought another battery that one, thats called ENDURO. Yes, it last a bit longer, but its same shit. And than colours.... FLAT profile is not only bad now, its total disaster, I mean, contrasty, colorful piece of shi*t. Who can even call it FLAT ?? Yeah, and I need to mention, it´s a year since I bought these two.... and one is dead again. My next Camera will be definietally DJI. Maybe they are not better, but I will give them try. I dont need the very top high end. But I need RELIABILITY ! I mean, software glitch is acceptable once a year, but not every single, or second ride. Thats crazy.

I use DJI action 4. Unfortunately, the camera does not expose correctly either in manual or auto mode. In auto mode the ev should compensate by + 1 minimum but instead of being at +1 it reaches -2 and I am underexposed, in manual mode I am correctly exposed but the backroand is overexposed. I understand that the sensor is not too big, but it should expose correctly, as does my phone, which has a much smaller sensor than this camera.

I'm really waiting for a consumer 360° camera by DJI. Own the third core of the Insta360 now and it still stops recording under "bumpy" conditions, in my case loud music or diving. No clue, why but the video just interrupts and mostly some seconds or even minutes are missing. Always has great experiences with DJI products.
