I think that the mode you are missing (locked tilt while in follow mode) can be accomplished by selecting pitch lock in the DJI Go app camera menu.

Thanks for pointing that out! It works exactly like the pan following mode on Zhiyun Smooth Q. I don't understand why DJI burry that in the menu. That also means if you can't use it if you are using native camera app or third party app?!!

I think that we need to rally everyone around pinging DJI to update the Osmo Mobile 2 firmware to allow hardware to control the Pitch Lock option. Perhaps four clicks for a Pitch Lock Follow mode? Or one click to cycle through Follow, Lock and Follow/Pitch lock. I am also hoping that the control for Pitch lock is in the API and that Filmic Pro can take advantage of that in the update that they are working on for Osmo Mobile 2 support . I will point out the Pitch Lock option to Filmic Pro support and we will see if they can do anything with that. Later. Bob

I just checked out the OM2 pitch lock with my native iPhone camera app and with Filmic Pro and it worked in both cases. Just open the DJI GO app, connect your OM2 set the pitch lock on, then go to the native camera app or to Filmic Pro and you will be shooting in follow mode with pitch lock. I also heard back from Filmic Pro support and they thanked me for pointing out the pitch lock feature. They also said that they were still waiting for DJI to put out the official SDK for the OM2 but that they would incorporate it as they did with the OM1 as soon as possible.

First DJI product I have bought and have been wanting to consider one of their drones. But after being frustrated with osmo 2 setup, functions like this... I am not impressed with DJI's software nor documentation and as such won't buy a drone until I see they get their software app support together.

Can you get your gimbal to spin while in flashlight mode? My previous gimbal did this and could turn continuously. I'm unable to get the Osmo 2 to turn when in flashlight mode.

I just got mine today and it's the first time I'm using a gimble - It's not easy! Because I'm not used to filming with a gimble I end up holding it in an awkward way which is restricting the movement. Also, I tried it with a Rhino Shield wide angle lens and every time I pan, I get to see the arm in the bottom right of the screen - any advice on that?

Your lens might be too heavy, if it’s not able to balance it, get some counterweight

I just got this gimbal and for some reason when I'm in free mode, it still rotates. Is this a manufacturer issue and I should have it replaced?

How do you get the camera to pan up towards the sky without the gimbal adjusting the camera downwards? I find that once I try to pan up beyond a certain point the gimbal adjusts and keeps the camera pointed downward.

My phone definitely doesn’t tilt up the way yours does in the video at 1:23 Regardless of which mode I‘m in. It works when panning, but not when tilting. Is there any additional setting I‘m missing?

With DJI I don’t think you can do that with a button, you can do that with a wheel though on Zhiyun Smooth 4

@@JZKZbin I tried that gimbal for a few days but sent back because the app kept crashing and half the features didn't work right. Everyone I spoke with and reviews I saw said DJI was better overall. But now that I don't have a way to push/pull my focus I feel like I am missing an important feature.

Yeah, check out other tutorials on KZbin for using FilimPro with DJI, you should be able to control focus using the thumbnail button inside the app

Hello, Few days I send back my Feiyu Tech SPG C because I was seduced of the new capabilities of Zhiyun Smooth 4 and DJI OSMO Mobile 2. I the mean time I watch your review on DJI mobile osmo 2 to compare and I was impresse by he Hyperlapse/tracking/software which is compatible with Android phone. So far I ordered the Smooth 4 because of the Hotkey shortcut and the Phone Go mode and because Osmo mobile 2 was missing a mode that I was using 90 % of time on Feiyu SPG is the PAN Follow mode. In fact in DJI OSMO MOBILE 2 there is only 2 mode : Free and Follow. It was not Hard to record video with mobile 2 without the PAN Follow ??? For exemple for my shot with Feiyutech SPG c I : - Inclined my phone 90° to absorbe my walk - Since the phone was looking forward I was able to turn my wrist left/right to perform smooth motion in those direction…. >> It’s not possible with mobile 2 to inclined the phone 90° and performed smooth left/right motion ? The movi phone gimbal has a mode called 'echo' that allows you to set a start point A, then camera-move to a stopping point B.. does anyone know if this osmo has a feature like this? 🙏 in advance

Yes you need to do it within the app. Pretty simple, like you said, pick point A and then B, the camera moves from A to B

Hi, first of all, thanks for this really informative video which explains the various modes in the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 gimbal. I want to buy a smartphone gimbal but I am kinda split between the Osmo Mobile 2 and the Zhiyun Smooth 4 (I am assuming it's better than the Smooth Q). I basically want to use my gimbal to shoot those lovely timelapse's and hyperlapse's, and these have been highlighted in almost every review of the Osmo Mobile 2. I am not sure whether the hyperlapse part is possible using the Smooth 4. My heart says I should pick up the Osmo Mobile 2 (probably because of the brand name) and my brain says Smooth 4. Which one do you recommend? Thanks in advance for the reply. P.S.: Right now I have a Xiaomi Mi A1 (dual camera) smartphone.

If you are using Android I would suggest DJI, better app support and does good job with the things you want to do. Zhiyun Smooth 4 has the wheel, but it does not look like that’s gonna help you though

iPhone is ok with both I would say. Zhiyun Smooth 4 is newer with all the physical controls, but DJI is more reliable. Check out my channel for videos on the Zhiyun Smooth 4

In the DJI Go app, click on the icon on the right, second to the bottom, you'll see 'Pitch Lock'. Enable that, and you will have control on the tilting.

This new version is a complete piece of crap. It's more susceptible to jitter because it's lighter, the controls make no sense, & they got rid of the mounting screw on the side because you could build a whole rig around that before. It's just an attempt to sell more units than the last model. Their target market is easy to fool because most folks who want to film on their phone's don't know what the hell they're doing anyways. The price cut IS NOT worth it.
