Have been considering a DJI myself. I see your wearing some sort of viewing-goggles. Seems like you also have control over the tilt during flight. Could you make a video of all the "flight-gear" your using?

What's the best setting to avoid the propellers and legs appearing in shot whilst flying? Is it best to just fly it more slowly or just add those black bars in post?

OMG can't wait for the gopro 4, 4k recording of the view would be EPIIIIIIIC btw what is happening around 1:40? these horizontal lines? and is it just me or is it really choppy towards the foreground around 4:25? is the gopro struggling?

dont have anything that puts out 4k resolution at the moment (as in no tv) also editing and upload time would be horriffic!

at 1:40 those lines are the effect of the blades casting a shadow on the lens, when i move the copter round and the shadow is not hitting the front element of the lens they then go away. and at 4:24 i think that is youtube just having trouble with the amount of file and detail in that part of the image.

Dombowerphoto yeah I guess it would be slow to edit and upload but you still cant ignore the fact that 4k or even 4k downscaled to 1080 on youtube is quite a lot sharper and more detailed (even on a normal monitor). just stating the possibilities :) Thanks for answering!

Brilliant .. Do the Fat Shark goggles make a lot of difference , dare I suggest make it easier to fly . Do you use the orientation switch so the levers operate the same direction regardless which way the DJI is facing .

Helps when it's out of sight. Also when I have my goggles on I feel like fucking Superman! You can also with the button on the transmitter (controller) so no matter what way you're facing back is always back, forward is always forward etc.

ive found that the best settings with the hero 3 black+ and the dji phantom 2 are- 2.7k 30fps and protune but not in low light, if your in low light skip protune and and turn on the low light settin. after you capture the video run it through gopros free software and convert them, click advanced settings and change it to no fisheye and i like mov. then adjust the video (very slightly!) and then you can export it and edit in any software you wish.

i cant stand protune, all my footage has been in the compressed setting and i can never get the protune footage (with editing) to look half as good as the in camera footage.

This is a great video Dom! What are the rules/laws with drones in the UK?? I'm planning to buy one here in Australia but the laws here are somewhat strict.

some rule regarding total height, and avoiding air space, and drones weighing more than 7kg. i got a whole sheet on them but nothing much. think it is more "dont be an asshole with a drone" rules

Hai Dom have you ever tryed the GPS systyem to the limits turn off the controler and let it fly home by it selfe controlled by GPS signals it resives personaly i dont trust it what if ?

I could also just put the footage through the gopro studio software to remove the distortion. But i like it.

Dom, I'm a big fan of your videos. I like your honesty and wit. I do real estate shots and a lot of weddings here in SC (USA). A couple of wedding shots from the air would be a great addition to my services. Do you get still pictures from the GoPro as well? Is GoPro the only camera that will fly? I am a Nikon shooter and was wondering if Nikon had a camera that will fly. Can the GoPro be used on the ground as sort of a backup camera. I was thinking of adding a used D700 as a full frame backup, but for $1000 the helicopter and the GoPro make a great addition to the to my "kit." firstly thanks dude. secondly yep you can still get your gopro to go on timelapse and shoot 12mp images every 3 seconds so you could get good res photos from hovering over the crowd, thirdly, could end up being a massive danger on a windy day though, so dont promise it unless it is a good day. wouldnt use the gopro as a backup as you cant control exposure, nor any flashes
