I’m looking to put a talk together for our group some time next year Melksham from the air’ we have lots of historical images - would I be able to use this for some context?

Absolutely , please feel free to use as you wish. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I live in Devon now but can see that much of the area has changed significantly since this was shot!

Ok! Looked again at the dronecode and I can see it is based on the definition of a congested area! I have reviewed and understand. While I kept more than 50m away and tried to fly over the open areas (a couple of exceptions), I accept that I was within 150m! My error! Thank you. I think the CAA could be clearer on this as it leaves you with the impression that 50m is ok. I thought congested areas applied to city centres!

Thank you for your advice and concern. I normally fly in the US where my drone us registered with the FAA. That said I checked the CAAs 'Dronecode' before flight. As to drones fitted with cameras, it should not be flown within 50m or people vehicles or buildings. With the exception of my own property, I do not believe I was any closer than that. Not sure where you got 150m from.

Thanks and thanks for subscribing. My son in law is still in the Melksham area and now has a Phantom 4. I am in the US with a Mavic Pro. More videos to follow ..... having had a crash in Baltimore I've been waiting for the replacement. But it's here now!

Hi, not sure if they told you any legal flying stuff when you got ya drone ( always in sight and not over 500m away, be over 150m from a congested area i.e. Houses etc ?. . The police are the ones who contact you and putting your name on this and flying from probably near your house and now it's shown on a site that reports illigal flying , you should be easy to prosecute if they wish. :(
