I’m from Fayetteville, but moved to Mexico so cool to see home. Have you tried using the NDs in auto exposure? I don’t wanna fiddle around with settings when vlogging is the reason why I bought the pocket 3, but I don’t want too too much of jittery footage. I was thinking to put on a nd16 or so and keep the iso down. I’m okay if my footage is around 1/250 or so or even higher, I just don’t want 1/1000 type footage. Also, be sure to go to Outer Banks and see the lighthouse. Best beaches up there. Carolina beach would be good to see at night with a pro mist filter. Take care friend

Solid image quality. Reducing the sharpness is the way to go. Great roll-offs on the highlights. Excellent showcase for the pocket 3 Tim.

Thanks Noi! I was hoping to get your opinion on this! I agree. It's going to stay at -2 and if I get too much noise, I'll just apply NR in post!

@@timbrowntown That's the thing. I think adding sharpness is what's creating that noise IMO. By softening the image everything is blending in naturally making it all more "cinematic". It's the reason I reduce sharpness in my settings as well even on the FX30.

@@noisackda2564 Yep. Sharpness has always been down as low as it can go in all my cameras. This time, though, I took the NR down all the way to -2 as well. I didn't see any noticeable noise in any of these shots. I have to remember though to check it each time I switch modes because those settings don't stick when you change. I think that may have been some of the reason I was getting inconsistent image quality in the past. I also didn't think it looked very natural with the gimbal until I switched it to fpv mode as well as turned up the speed to fast. This way it looks much more like a mirrorless with good stab vs like the camera is floating.

Hey Tim, loved the walk and talk style vlog today 👏 Yeah the FPV mode is something I've thought about, but haven't utilized yet. Nice testing on the Noise Reduction to -2, I liked it! I liked how you showcased the MT-44, but you didn't put the Pocket 3 on it and walk 😂, I do that all the time to get a wider angle. You stated you were using 4K30, 1/60 with a ND filter but then at the end you stated *Full auto settings 🤔...did you switch the full auto at the end? Regardless, the Pocket 3 footage looked so good! Nice to hear you are wanting to explore your area, I'm in the same boat too. The only place I know that you mentioned is "Myrtle Beach"...so if you go there, I would definitely be curious to see how its changed since I last was there probably in the mid 1980's 😂 I liked your free flowing unscripted vlog. Oh, and you're able to change the microphone levels on the little microphone icon on the upper right of the main screen right? Anyways, Great video my friend!

Thanks Adam! Yeah, I also forgot to mention I turned the gimbal speed up to fast. I really liked it as well as the noise reduction down to -2. I will have to try that in lower light situations though. Lol, yeah I guess I could have used the mt44 but I'm generally pleased with the focal length that I get because it kind of looks like a portrait shot. Maybe that's something I brought over from photography, but I do need to switch things up a bit. Yes I kept the settings the same at 4K 30 1/60 but when I was talking about other people trying settings out. I said "normal" but typed "full auto" to clarify. Guess that didn't work out. Lol. So, I don't think fpv would be the best settings for a scooter vlog ( probably want at least tilt locked) for you but I do think they work the best for a walk and talk. Thank you for the thought about Myrtle Beach. Maybe even a title like Myrtle Beach in 2024...hmmm. Honestly, I made some mistakes in the dialogue here but I was able to get this done in total of about 5 hours when it usually takes me at least 8. I'll probably switch back to my bullet points for the next one but if I'm pressed for time I was satisfied enough with this one to be confident enough to do a non-planned one again in a pinch.

Oh and that's interesting that DaVinci recognized your recording as 32bit float 🤔...I was always under the impression that the audio recorded simultaneously with the video is not 32 bit float. It's only 32 bit float if you transfer the audio file directly from the receiver and then sync. Wait...that's perhaps what you were talking about 😂...Yeah, my last video I used the separate 32 bit float. It's certainly a cool option to have when you think you might have clipped your audio!

That's exactly what I'm talking about. I didn't use the audio recorded on the transmitter itself and it still indicated it was 32-bit float. I'm not sure if it was a false indication or not but it sounded fine so I left it. Maybe I'll have to scream into the mic and do some comparisons to find out exactly what's going on.

It's probably just a 32-bit container. If you increase the volume in post and you see the noise floor go up with it, then it's not 32-bit float. It's super deceiving and confusing to the unsuspecting end user.
