Learning how to scratch completely change the way I see myself as a dj , my gears, and what the art form is really about. When I’m manipulating the record, I feel I’m touching the beat, the drum, the piano, the vocal…you name it. I feel like I’m truly recreating the music I love and im so grateful that I’m no longer a human iPod but an instrumentalist😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉

The last tip is what really took me the longest to realize. I'm at the point, now, to where I can't say that I know a scratch unless I can do it to a 300 bpm metronome.

I'm a halfway decent scratch DJ that can frestyle scratch in time and to various beats/melodies, but it took a long time. Thank you for making me feel i just wasn't really slow. I listen to music at work and I air scratch (like air guitar) to the music just for fun. I can hear what my scratching sounds like in my head over the music. It helps ALOT with my timing and freestyle patterns when I'm actually back on the turntables! Seriously, i recommend peeps learning to scratch try that. It really helps build muscle memory and you dont need any hardware to practice.

@loopdatshit yeah right. People don't realise how many hours people put in in pratice to get to the level they are with any musical instrument. I tried guitar but I just did not love it as much as skratching and I did not progress. Need to be dedicated and have a burning passion. You get out what you put in. Anyway you don't need me telling you. You skratch too?

Lol I went straight into flares and now I'm struggling with stabs and basic stuff. Military skratch etc. Og flare is one of the best flare skratch to learn. Learning that to click pinching technic is super helpfull as it's a gateway to autobahns boomerangs etc

If you want to learn to scratch or even just proficiently use your jog wheels get a set of turntables and a small mixer. Coming from the turntable age switching to controller was simple. The points he mentioned to practice if done on turntables will transfer to the controller with ease.

What is scratching in double time?
@DJLiftOFF
@DJLiftOFF 3 ай бұрын
Essentially, everything is done 2x faster. So say you’re at a BPM of 75 and you’re doing 2 baby scratches per beat. So that’s 8 total baby scratches in 1 bar. In double time, you would do 16 baby scratches, so you’d do 2 baby scratches for every 1/2 beat.
