Don’t forget that they increase your contract amount year after year while you don’t get anything extra, but the kicker is they don’t tell you they’re doing it. You just see an increased charge after 12 months.

My contract with WW & The Knot last year was $6k. I did not get $6k back, and they refused to let me cancel when my contract was up. I put it in writing three times, and they ran me around. I had to have my lawyer send them a letter with a lawsuit for harassment before they finally cancelled.

Nick, this is the best video you've ever made lol. I've been telling brides for years that the reason I don't have an award is because I DON'T HAVE TO PAY SOMEONE TO GET HIRED! They want to charge the new vendor MORE than someone who has been with them for awhile. Every time they call me, I tell them that if they give me the same rate as my competitor, I might give it a try. They promise to call back and NEVER DO lmao.

I just use their free site and could care less if they cancel me. My couples are mostly all word of mouth and I'm booking two years out with 160 weddings a year. But I've also been in business for over 25 years so It's like you said being a good DJ and responding to your couples asap and not days later is the best thing you can do. Also don't sell what you can't produce! LOL they'll call me promising more weddings and I respond I can't take anymore I'm booked out, they hang up.They want startups who are hard up for business and they play on that. Great Vid Nick

I did a Gig some 20+ years ago for one of the owners of Gigmasters, which was bought out by the Knot and rebranded as "The Bash" for $8.5 million! The owners were probably only a couple years out of college barely pushing 30 and are probably now set for life - good business exit strategy! They were very nice and tipped well too :)

I was actually scheduled to have a call with one of their reps this week, I'm definitely having second thoughts about going through with it now. Maybe investing in SEO would just be a better decision and build my google reviews

they are yelp on ACID. Sad thing (as you mentioned) is that their main source of power comes from wedding vendors posting their own ww/knot page links on their own website (the backlink) which boosts their SEO and allows the knot/WW to rank at the top of google searches. This starts the domino effect of brides finding their site because of google searches. This is why when you search wedding DJ any city , the knot/ww ranks first no matter what.

The code was also built with "no follow" commands where it told SEO to benefit wedding wire, but not the site that posted their code. They also do this to all of your listings too.

Bro, you can’t get a free account anymore. My girlfriend is a Wedding Officiant and they told her she can’t have an account until she pays for 12 months first. They are only getting worse. I stopped doing business with them years ago. They are disgusting and criminal. Send you fake leads and take your money. So glad you did this!

I'm about to drop Wedding Wire/The Knot once my contract ends in November. Even after updating my profile, revamping everything, etc., I've yet to get a signed couple since December 2023. And now I am worried about Shutterfly. I was hired by them to start doing some high school event shoots. I just wanted a way to get extra money. And it sounds (based on what I'm hearing here) they may be shady as well. :(

Wish this video came out earlier , I just joined welding wire pro , the sales consultant are like fucking sharks , what they didn't tell me was to have a pro account you needed to have 5 review's. Why am I paying to get my samll businesses out there if you're going to require me to get 5 reviews thumbtack only requires 2 at minimum. Any recommendations for closing my account with wedding wire once my 12 months are over

Their prices increase every year religiously but then again-so do mine. My ROi is keeping me there only because I invested about 6 years ago which got me to one of the top 3 in my area. I always reevaluate every year and contemplate a divorce 🤣

WW and The Knot def change each year for ROI. Past 12 months, we've cleared nearly $20K in business (4x ROI). Zola and Pearl leads have been horrible so far - haven't booked ANYTHING FROM THEM as of yet. Sadly, still sticking with WW and The Knot. As a multi-op, it's still worth it to advertise for us. We rerun numbers end of each year before renewal. Single ops, just don't waste your advertising on them. You can't compete with the bigger companies.

I run ads on both sites. It is so funny because when I don't receive leads, I call my rep and complain. Afterward, I will receive one or two leads. I lose money on these two sites. I think I booked maybe 6 weddings for the entire year.

I had 3 friends all dj company small business owners. All advertising with wedding wire paying good money, hardly any leads, some seemed to be fake or computer generated and only when they called to cancel after the 1 year contract was up did they all see a huge bump I leads come through like magic. They tune and control the algorithms to drive leads to whomever they want. Huge waste of money.
