@@fwvw7056 It's not even about if you can hit it or not, it's about TAKING the PACE out of his baseline gamen they key to beating Sinner is to have him second guess the rhythm of the match and get him in uncomfortable positions. Sinner has poor counter slicing skills. If you give me the option between Zverev and Novak against Sinner, I would gladly take Novak as a worth opponent of Sinner. Zverev's tennis is too one dimensional and almost predictable. Once you "neutralize" his power shots, there isn't much left. Novak on the other hand, really strategizes his points. The way, he played Carlos out, despite mostly losing the long rallies was nothing short of genius. Sinner would have NEVER beaten Alcaraz, his game is too "baseline bashing" based. Now if Novak is truly injured, I think it would be better to just withdraw from the SF.

Sinner can create pace of his own, as opposed to e.g. Medvedev and to a lesser degree Djokovic (who is a counterpuncher). Just a fact: it took Djokovic 8 sets last year to even create a break point opportunity against Sinner (second set of the six kings slam).

@@fwvw7056 Not many players are slicing AT ALL, this is why it's a rare shot! Djokovic doesn't slice often, but he's quite proficient at it to break the rhythm. Side note; last years encounter against Sinner at the Australian Open I don't consider seeing as Novak's serve was so horrible, I am not shocked he got broken so many times in set 1 and set 2, kudos for Sinner beating Novak in the final of the Masters, that's a match where it was quite close. One thing is clear: Novak can't win against Sinner in a baseline bashing fest! That's a recipe for disaster... That final 3 months ago, made it fully clear.
