Nice advice as always. I'm not too hung up on selling beats yet as my mixes are ass and getting better is my main priority. Plus I have a decent job.. But all the same, it would be pointless undertaking this journey and not giving myself the best chance of getting my music heard. I'm only on the first tip and this is the most painful part of the entire process for me. To the extent I pay for vidiq and don't even go on it anymore. I've fallen into the trap of what to label my music, trying different things, and have given up now. But that tip has given me a new insight. I might add as I watch more tips haha
@BasedProducerАй бұрын
😂🤣 Second to last tip. That was my logic tbh.. I thought if someone liked my beat they'd maybe mix and master it along with vocals. That being said, if you know nothing about mixing and mastering like myself, its definitely worth learning how to do. Thanks again for the tips. Up for a consultation at some point, I did see it on your website a while ago. I just feel like I need to get better at the basics first

13:45 - DRIVES ME NUTS! Yes sometimes distortion can really add some texture depending on where it's applied, but what gets me is when a whole track is just straight clipping because there is virtually no compression or any kind of limiting anywhere at all. I can go into my daw, make a quick BANGER and not put anything on its own track and it comes out the same way. Like..at LEAST EQ sounds to fit in their own pocket. Sorry that's just my rant on that. I better get with the times. I'm in my early 30s and feel like a grandpa. I don't wanna be like "Those DARN kids and their DARN distortion keep walking all over my lawn"

I hear you with the targeting but I struggle to get my head around it because I’ve targeted fresh keywords and then a beat popped off and i’ve seen successful channels rotate keywords and do new ones but their branding and “sound” remained the same.

nice vid very helpful especially rigidity. I am always scared to change things on my youtube channels because it may fuck up the algo. But at the end of the day I am only thinking about changing stuff when things aren't working lol. Maybe I should be just started from scratch every time I make a change because the channel is dead but where do you draw the line,.....

The fact you have to explain BCC for mailing lists in 2024 is crazy. This has been internet etiquette for 20 years. But yet here we are with mass emails still exposing everyone's email address to random people. In this day and age, privacy is paramount so protect your recipients from possible future scams/phishing.

Speaking of insecurities with mixing/mastering, I wonder what DJ Pain's thoughts are on loudness as a selling/competitive factor. I often play my beats next to someone like Epik the Dawn's beats and feel inadequate because his are like 5 times louder and seem to overshadow mine. Is this something that ultimately matters?
@DJPain1Ай бұрын
It helps when you consider that listeners might confuse loudness with quality. I push my loudness in KZbin videos- I clip like .5 db and it doesn’t matter because people aren’t recording to KZbin rips, or shouldn’t be at least
@SIDotakuАй бұрын
@@DJPain1 - That's my concern right there, that a listener might be listening to beats on a playlist or marketplace and think mine aren't as "punchy" simply because they're conservatively loud. I've heard the beats on your beat store as well. MUCH quieter compared to CXDY or Epik for example, but your sales seem to be doing just fine regardless. So should we beat makers just disregard this whole loudness thing?

For me it's the lack of posting my beats to KZbin I got good beats at least I believe but it take about a hour to found keywords for my titles That's very tedious for me just because I don't box myself on what kind of beats I make it's more how I feel one day it might be hip hop and the next day it might be trap or rnb

hey dude i’ll make a deal with you, I’ll watch all the ads in your videos if you do a video talking about any pitfalls you have come across releasing sample packs, actually any advice on the business side of it would be awesome. what’s a good way to get in contact with you? if it won’t screw up any legal things I’ll send you the pack when it’s finished, I’m pretty sure I’ve got a fairly unique idea here, all the rare old-school samples are done I’m working on the other part now it’s a pretty cool gimmick i think
