Ikr, there was only a minor bug, you get a bluescreen when logging off (not shutting down). No idea why everyone hates it. Windows 10 is worse, directx 10 & 11 games like gta 5 won't run and things like that, which did work in vista

Definitely. Vista was way ahead of it's time, it literally looked TOO good, to the point where they had to dial back visual effects in 7. The problem was that it was so demanding to run. Most peoples' bad experiences with Vista were because they were trying to use it on probably a P4 with 1GB of RAM and GMA graphics. In fairness machines like that were still everywhere at the time, but of course it's going to run terribly compared to XP.

Despite the issues that the OS had, Vista was quite revolutionary for its time! The preinstalled games, the introduction to the frutiger aero aesthetic, the media center, nearly everything about Vista was great. Never let the "Wow" end.

​@TheOtherNamesWereTaken123 Vista had more games and much more sample music. It also had way better screensavers. I also remember it having a Office 2007 demo preinstalled, never seen that in 7. I also think Vista had better aesthetics. The wallpapers that came with Vista were much better, even to a point where I still use them from time to time on my modern systems without wanting it to be nostalgic, but just to look good. I had both as a child and I remember the stability problems with Vista, but also the many things I missed in 7 as a child when upgraded from Vista (which are of course completely irrelevant from today's perspective, but still).

I'm a huge fan of Windows Vista, it's a very safe, solid, stable OS, and also the beautiest one i've ever seen. I think the only reason to many people disliked it was because they ran it in poor hardware, like machines with 512MB of RAM and/or not enoughtly good video cards, expecting it to run as fast as Windows XP on the same old computer, blaming the OS, forgetting that Vista does a lot more than XP, and due to this, it needs more resources to do its tasks.

I remember putting together a monster rig at the time with no Operating System at the end of the build. So I ran to the store and reluctantly bought Vista..... All I'm saying is WOW! Windows Vista's UI was the best Windows UI unti now! I know that maybe others will have different opinions but that's my toght! I've been a Windows Vista and Windows 7 Technical Beta Tester and being in PC industry since 1996. My first PC was running Windows 3.1 then bought anoter one with Windows 95. Great times! I remember playing around with beta versions of Windows 98, Me, Windows NT 5.0 which later become Windows 2000. Windows XP lastet longer... Nice memories!

When the Wanna Cry malware was circulating around, everyone was saying that Windows XP was going to spread it to a lot of other people's computers, but most XP computers just froze up before it would even install. They could just reset the computer and they weren't even infected. It affected Windows 7 more, from what I read. I would say that Vista could receive extended updates because I believe it resembles Windows Server 2008 like the Windows XP registry hack used POSReady 2009 updates, but those updates end the same time Windows 7 support ends.

Vista was my favorite OS, with my first PC came along in December 2007 by my grandparents and the themes are just so calming and the sound, the sound wasn't an issue but Vista came pre-added with Microsoft Plus and Media Center, which Plus had the Internet Explorer and Office and yes Vista was the "wow" that I expected but gaming was so fun for my grandma and her boyfriend which taught me to play games on the PC at age 4.

going back, I used to hate using windows vista, and so did my friends. We all had computers that said they were windows vista compatible, though designed for XP, and all of them sucked. Going back, however, to Vista, on a computer build for Windows 7, it ran beautifully. RIP Vista, you were always misunderstood :(

But if you have some tweaking tools and Vista themes, you can make Windows 7 look like Windows Vista like my computer. Even the logon screen branding I always see when login were changed to "Windows Vista Ultimate"!

vista sp2 was amazing on my first laptop, from 2008 or 2009, i actually don’t remember exactly what model, but i used vista on it til i stopped using the laptop in 2013 i think. have no idea where it is. but vista was great

I used Windows 95 and 98 when I was a teenager in the 90s, but I didn't own a computer until I had one with Windows XP, so it was actually my first in 2009. I like Vista and that's my aunt's favorite. I used her Windows 95 and 98 computers a little bit in the late 90s early 00s though.
