Re fencing and good side and the bad side. For security reasons, I would have the cross rails facing in as they can be used as a lader to climb over. It is harder to climb over from the "good side."
@CraigNiel
@CraigNiel 4 ай бұрын
That's exactly what I think every time it's mentioned! Why would you want the cross rails on the outside, it's basically a ladder!

@johndelaney5889 - I lived in Germany in the early 80s - we could buy rolls of 'fence topper', to fix to the top of the fence panel - a kind of extruded rubber strip about 1.5 inch wide and an inch high - inside the rubber were upward facing razor blades encased in foam - it was designed such that it was safe for cats, foxes, squirrels etc to climb over, but if a person tried to climb over, they would learn a lesson they would never forget.

@mikebashford8198 I believe in the UK you are allowed to have spiked stripes above a certain hight, as long as they are visible.

Great video guys…and stevie….you asked us to comment on who should have the “good side” of the fence if your paying for it? I understand that the back of the panel which has the rails showing isn’t has good looking as the feather edge side but it’s down to if you want the fence for security or not. If you decide to have the feather edge your side of the garden then that leaves the rails to the outside side so anyone could use it to climb over!! So I would always advise customers to have the rails there side and give neighbours the feather edge if they don’t want anyone to climb over….especially if neighbours got unruly children 😂…they love to climb on things 😂😂😂❤and with camp rail fencing if it’s your fence then you have the post in your property and the rails and boards on the outside…..❤

Great fencing jobs again and i agree with Stevie about having the good side facing you if you've paid for it, but if its on the roadside we had our fence panels facing out because it looked better. What a massive difference that base Tarmac makes on James drive, it will be interesting to see how much Tarmac it took to do the job. 👍😁

Hi D&J. Nice fence installs Stevie & Scott. When I have done fencing I have given the side to the neighbour unless it’s at the end of the garden with open space turn it round so not so easy to climb over. The drive just with half the tarmac down looks awesome. Did you hire the ride on roller Dave? Have a good week 👍

It doesn't really matter that much about having the rails facing outside for someone to climb on. The height of the fences aren't exactly hard to climb over anyway, unless it's a beast of a fence that's taller than a lamp post, regardless of which side the rails are. When it comes to security you put anticlimb spikes on top of the fence to make it harder for trespassing

what I was taught at uni was ... The good side of a fences, come from what is actionable in terms of trespass, 3 &1/2 inches which equates to the thickness of a Harris rail and a feather edge board. So you should always give your neighbour the good side of the fence as you get to steal his ground :P

The good side of a tall fence is harder to climb. If you want to keep people out, you face the good side out. Remember that it is better to give than to receive. Don't be a ME, mine or I type of person, put others ahead of yourself and life will be good.

Best fencing is both hard to climb or lift from "outside" and good looking. While more expensive, a double-faced fence system (panels and gravel boards) is ideal. If that costs too much, then security dictates which way to orient it, for me, and depends on the style of panel. However, whoever is paying for it gets to decide. If there is disagreement, then each side gets to run their own fence, sandwiching the property boundary.

Hi to all at d&j,sorry for being late,it's definitely not slow progress on the screener and topsoil situation as you said you've done alot of work so far and it will be easier to keep up with once that massive pile has gone down,on the fencing I'm with stevie if I'm the only one paying I'm getting the good side but if it's mutual payment then it's rock,paper,scissors🤣scott I'd definitely going to be a great fence installer as he dies most of the work anyway🙈🤣only joking stevie obviously he's doing well because of the awesome teacher he has👌🙂James's place is mahooosive and is obviously doing well in life and good luck to him ut also good that's he's getting the best in the business to do all his work for him so a massive thankyou to james👏👍you asked people to guess to the nearest ton of tarmac in the last video so did I miss what it was or did you forget🤷‍♂️🙈😁good the whole team was in early on Saturday to help out but you do have a wonderful team👊good to see Jamie being allowed out with you aswell😁cheers guys🙂👍

I’d have the good side if I was paying 😅 might ask if the neighbours wants to pay the difference for a double sided panel. Paid 50/50 with the neighbour at the back of me, technically it was his fence as its his left side and was my back fence. But I wanted to change it to tidy my garden up and he offered 50/50. We got double panelled fencing and I gave him the good side of the gravel board as I was having raised beds along the back with I would see them anyway

Normal fencing around here, outside Houston, TX, is good side of the fence to the neighbors. Although that is changing as the demographics of the area change. That is a lot of tarmac. I haven't seen that much since I was hauling that stuff in Dallas. 12 yards or so at a time. 4 to 5 loads a night. Good vid. Thanks.
