If the sync button is lit up its being used. It flashes when linked to say a djm 2000 that I know for sure. Doesn't matter if sync is used anyway, beat mixing is the easiest of dj skills. We know this guy can mix with or without. It's about the music, how it's played, where it's mixed etc. the guy is a legend and needs to prove nothing sync or not. Wish people would stop using this silly argument. Sync gives a dj more time to do other things. I like the sync button it's a good useful feature sometimes

this guy is a wizard, amazing song layering, accapellas, fx and sampling. basically creating a new song between mixes. and no he isnt using auto beat syncro. eg on 26.21 you can hear deck / channel 4 slightly out during the mix hence why he adjusts the pitch speed to phase the beat back in sync.

For those talking about the sync button, i heard a lot of his mixes with vinyl and his technique is flawless, now he is using 4 cdjs, firing loops/samples and using fxes on individual channels, i preffer not to use it when im mixing only with 2 cdjs, but sometimes its ok to use it when you do 4 cdjs, and you dont care when you dont need to prove anything... its just a faster way to do what you know, and focus on other things... great set !

Great Dj, but CDJ's suck. They have done nothing positive for this culture and taken money out of the pockets of many! The sad thing is, David can play with vinyl, but he will give all the excuses that the others give. Convenience comes at a cost...

He isnt using any sync feature.. If you're familiar with the CDJ2000 Nexus sync.. Then you would know that it FLASHES when the sync in on. You don't need to use sync with Rekordbox and the cdj's.. just pre-match the bpms and it will stay on beat. So before you comment you need to know your dj gear.

He seems to be fader riding, ie full manual beatmatch. The sync sounded a bit off at that point, and I can hear him correcting it manually after he turns sync off and gets on the fader. Fader riding is performed in three steps: 1. Mentally mark the position of the tempo fader. 2. Move the tempo fader in one direction. You are trying to eliminate the phasing in the mix, either by making the track too fast or too slow, such that you overtake the other playing track. 3. You now know where "too far" is on the tempo fader, and that the ideal BPM is somewhere between the place you marked in step 1 and where fader is right now. Repeat from step 1. Repeat until BPM is matched.

Actually, I'm not a fan of this mixed set. Nonetheless, I LOVE so many of his RedZone remixes and Dubs. I have a handful of 12" vinyls with RedZone edits on the flipsides. I gotta disagree with the legend that a cdj is the closest thing to real vinyl. That imo was an utterly ridiculous statement. You're talking about using a cdj that cost upward of 2 grand and has an on board computer with it's own software. You still have to look down and scroll through those little screens so still you're focus is gonna shift away from the dance floor in that instance same way as if you were looking at a computer screen. Serato or tracktor are way more closer to real vinyl than any cdj. I get where he's coming from as I hate when I see dj's staring at their computer screens but that's by choice. you can put you're laptop off to the side and only check it when you have to switch tracks You can beat match by ear on anything. It's up to you whether you want to stare at a screen or not. And serato has absolute mode where the vinyl is going to react completely like a real piece of vinyl. Cue points will not work and the needle will skip if you tap it. No way in the world can a cdj come close to an dvs system when it comes to vinyl feel. Still love this guys style though.
