There is a misconseption that Djurgården threw the banger but the only thing confirmed is that the banger exploded in Djurgårdens family section, so no matter who thew it, there is no reason (good or bad) for AIK to answer with throwing a flare. The rumour was started by REALLY bad journalism that seemed to be angled against Djurgården. The original article has been changed.

This game was so annoying to watch. AIK got every luck they could in this game, before the game both Djurgården central defenders were injured and they had to play with a set of central defenders that had hardly played at all that could be seen on the 0-1 goal that would never have happened without the injuries. A crystal clear penalty for Djurgården in first half and an equally clear red card for AIK both not given, even the commentators were furious how the ref did not take such obvious things. Djurgården also dominated the game 80-20 i ball possessions in second half 54-46 in first half 67-33 overall says it all. 22 chances for Djurgården 10 for AIK. The 0-1 goal would never have happened without the bad luck for Djurgården with both central defenders injured. at 0-1 Djurgården should have had a penalty and AIK should have had a red card.

I would say the biggest derby in Scandinavia nowadays is AIK - Hammarby. No question about it. Dif is the smallest of the three. Only thing they have to show for is more titels than hammarby, but thats it. But then again, who really cares about either of them.

I'm from Sweden but I think the Allsvenskan is at such a bad level that I don't find it particularly entertaining. But the fans are better. In Stockholm and in Sweden in general, Aik and Hammarby have much more fans than Dif has. In addition to Aik and Hammarby, IFK Göteborg and Malmö have a lot of fans who create a great atmosphere also.
