Bittersweet was originally released in 2018 and it didn't have any vocals. I always liked the slower pace of the song that melds well together with the melodies. However, I think that the amazing vocals by Emery made this track really stand out even better and completed the song by introducing strong emotions captured within the vocals and lyrics. My personal opinion on the new version... honestly, it's not bad, but I arguably prefer the original more. Emery's got a good voice, but I can't say I'm a fan of the lyrics being sung here, even if it wasn't seemingly the same 2-3 sentences being repeated. I know anyone who knows my lyrical skill's gonna find this remark real rich coming from me, given I've been trying to write lyrics for a decade and have only made one actually kinda passable set of lyrics in that time, but those are my thoughts regardless.

This is very pretty! Emery's vocals are nice and soft yet powerful at the same time! Those types of vocals are honestly the coolest and most mesmerizing. It fits the song very well! Great job on the song! 💖

I always loved this song, the melody and tempo feels like a "bittersweet" contrast, due to my auditive lesser problems I gotta raise up the low frequencies and turn down a bit high ones, however, Emery's vocals really fit on the song, a couple words sound out of tempo, still so great. What I can hear is: "Life can be bittersweet and now it gives a heartbeat" "Life can have its upside-downs, but you learn to turn it around" My mind for a moment mistook the first part for: "Life can be bittersweet and it fades away in a heartbeat" (I'm wrong in both for sure haha)
