Say what you will about some of Dubas’s other moves and it is a small sample size, but the Tomasino trade is seeming like a really smart move that works well within Sully’s system. He had zero goals in 11 games with Nashville this season and already has 2 in just 3 games with Pittsburgh so far

DK - In my opinion, it is not a coincidence that the lines that DOC has been on have been pretty good for the most part this season. Love his hustle and I'm sure he wishes more than I do that he had buried some of the chances he has created for himself as well.

Thank you @DK....100% it isn't that sullivan doesn't play young guys...this is professional sports...you perform...young guys haven't been performing....Pusty has been given the direction to shoot....and he hasn't shoot the puck (you shared this example but this is what I always think of)...the players need to do their end.....and they don't so Sullivan doesn't reward them...full context is required in these labels we throw around bout sullivan

As someone who isn't a Dubas fan, living in Toronto I saw his MO and poor roster decisions since 2014, Dubas constructed a roster that in the off season you can tell won't finish better than bottom 10....that is where they are at....Players, Coaches deem some responsibility on the ability to achieve or over achieve...but this roster doesn't have a single first line winger with a 37 year old 1st line centre....has a bunch of 4th liners and healthy scratches of other teams...and no real defensemen on the back end who can consistently play in their own zone well (even 2017 team that had a below average D, had guys who did the basics in their own zone to get the puck out).....so the team gets the credit and the lack of credit...having said that Dubas didn't put together a team that could win...so if they don't win, make playoffs, etc....a lot does go on him

@ the GM and the coach work in tandem to create a roster but their not magicians? There's only so many free agents, there's a salary cap, etc. I know Toronto's fans want to blame everyone but their star players but please don't bring that energy around here. This is a winning organization around here and we don't have loser mentalities to blame a GM who inherited a disaster roster with no assets. He's not been perfect but this roster hasn't been good in years and he has made some nice moves so far

Hey friend. Firstly, keep your insulting comments to yourself. You have no idea who I am or what derives my opinion. Secondly, take a look at a team like Washington. Different situations but see the same free agents that were available to Pittsburgh as them and who they got and how it helped them. There is such a thing as poor assessment of talent. That does exist. Thirdly, take some time. Evaluate dubas’ history and approaches and roster and player decisions. Then you can try to understand why I have the opinion that I do. Even if you don’t agree. Until you’ve done that your reply just points out your ignorance. Because I can recite data sets to validate my opinion (again whether right or wrong).

I wish The Penguins could trade Karlsson back to The Senators. Pay half his salary or whatever to get Brady Tkachuk. Throw in draft picks if you have to. That kid is a leader, averages 30g a season, doesn't take a night off & doesn't take sh*t from anyone. Sid could then pass the torch to him someday.

my main issue with this team, and coming from someone whos accepted the inevitable downfall unlike some other people, is the complete lack of camaraderie between each other. example, nieto blocks a shot on the PK and clearly hobbled him, he's going back the bench and none, absolutely none of the players are standing up banging their sticks, or give him a pat besides the equipment manager who gave him one. no, it's not the coach who needs to be the one to instill that, that's bullshit. that comes from "the boys", it's such a simple thing that gets the players engaged and stuff players like hornqvist did so wee

that's the stuff that builds confidence, builds trust between players. i don't think everyone can adopt the "lead by example" approach that sid has, there needs to be someone to grab that bull by the horns and this team can make the playoffs quite easily.

It's crazy how a 3 game win streak can change perspective. The last few weeks, I was pretty willing to accept the Pens were going to be a bottom 5 team for the next half decade, and now I'm thinking maybe they can turn this around. Idk, maybe I shouldn't be so pessimistic haha

This team isn't built to win....meaning they aren't going to be a playoff team...i thought at best bottom 10.....these 'wins' on the scoresheet and with the individual members of the team hopefully help build something that materializes into something before Sidney retires......

I’ve been paying a lot more attention to the WBS Pens this year because frankly.. they are FUN to watch. Poulin is such a strange situation. Have you spent much time with this kid? What is it that causes him to go play like an animal in Wilkes then come up to the show and sputter out? In my opinion it has nothing to do with Sullivan but that’s as far as my opinion or idea goes. How come we haven’t seen any of the others? Broz, Hollowell, Bemstrom? Why is it Poulin that always gets the call?

3 game winning streak is a disaster. There's a risk of magical thinking reappearing for a team that clearly isn't good enough. If someone peaks at a level that makes them tradeable and you do it, then maybe it's a positive.

I tend to agree. It's like getting duped into believing the Pirates are going to have a winning season after they get off to a 15-7 start. That's when you place your bet against them doing so. Let the value rise a bit, then cash in.
