I appreciate Michael‘s question as well. I think load management has to be a real consideration given all of the current circumstances. Tomlin will never admit to it. But look at Andy Reid and Belichick for all those years playing chess.

This would be a great game to start off fast, and stay on the pedal. Philly has a very good defense themselves, and a great running game.

We been losing playoff games because we go down by 14+ points really early in games. Offense just has to be good enough early to make sure we aren't down huge at half. If that's the case, I like our chances of finishing.

Tomlin Translation: we don’t play to win. We play (in our fears) to keep it a single possession game; then frantically unleash the offense and defense late in the fourth if behind. I agree with you DK, Let's get first Downs in the first quarter. Throw the ball more get the ball the fryermouth. And who cares if they do see it come in, Make them stop it. Aggressive offences take control, Make them stop it. It's about being aggressive. Asked the Detroit Lions. 😮. Russell is not the kind of guy that you need to Handcuff. He doesn't make mistakes.

I remember when Big Ben, went to his second SB. The vast majority of the Steelers wins were 4th Quarter wins. So, when they went to the SB vs Cardinals, I remember Tomlin saying "the left to much time on the clock!" Why, did he say that? Well, because he had confidence in his team that they would do what they have been doing the whole season and he was not worried. We call that "Battle tested" this team is that. They're battle tested. Now, I'm not saying that they're going to win all of their games like this. What I am saying is just giving emphasis on Tomlin's response to the slow start question. We have to keep in mind that there are 4 quarters in a game. That in itself means that there are 3 quarters of gameplay. Which means opportunity to put points on the board is opened. And there is only so many looks on defense you have going against a veteran well seasoned QB before he tears you apart. And Russ has been showing us that. That he is that patient, well observant veteran QB you can count on to make plays when you really need them. Love the show DK.

I think a lot of slow start is Najee. He runs upright and is tackled quickly. And opponents always know we are trying to run at start.

To a certain extent, teams across the league are slow at scoring in the 1st quarter. The Steelers seem like they’re the worst in the league, but they’re actually 22nd, I believe. That’s still below-average, but it’s not a huge margin.

They need to keep the offense on the field. They can't afford 3 and outs. It's only gonna wear down the defense and give up points.

The opening scripts always try to do too much. 1st and 5, gain 3. It's 2nd and 2 and we end up punting bc of 2 straight incompletions. Just run the ball & establish dominance early

Honestly, I think this is sort of a nothing burger. It’s all ideal circumstances and it definitely would make it easier on them. I’m not ignoring that. But I think Tomlin is right. And if this means we’re never out of games because of this mentality, that’s just the nature of doing business. I mean think about it. How many times have you seen teams come out hot but can’t seal the deal at the end of the game?

I think it is fair to rip into Pettersson a bit here..He was absolutely horrible last night (and other nights), but people seem preoccupied ripping into other players ..How many Jeff Carter scapegoats does this team need? The Penguins didnt hit any one last night...They were beyond soft, I think other teams look forward to playing the Pens now..They are no longer hard to keep up with and they dont hit any one and can't play D. I think massive trades are in order now..This team is going nowhere with the roster they have.

The steelers have had a really bad habit of only playing one good half of football for years,and that's why I don't see them ever winning another superbowl with tomlin or beating really good teams consistently
