Wow. The speaker read from a book, not the Bible and made at least 11 statements of ways to be saved. I'm so confused. So do I believe? Call, take the word, save myself, just take him, laying hold of hope, look to the star of Bethlehem, cry out, or wait for Christ to call for me. None of these seems definitive to me. Believe, yet Mark wrote, he who believes and is baptized shall be saved. Why wasn't baptism mentioned for salvation? Why wasn't receiving the Holy Ghost like they did on the day of Pentecost mentioned? So many preachers are good at quoting Acts 2:21, but fail misirably at quoting Acts 2:37-39. The crowd of Jews asked Peter and the 11, What must we do? And Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, for the promise is unto you and to your children and to those who are a far off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

We are saved by Hebrews 10:14 “For by one offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified” through the grace of God, he sent the one offering Jesus who died one time for the price of the sins (past tense) to make us all holy, righteous, justified. When you see the word “repent” you have to read it in the original koine Greek language which is what it is written it. Repent=metanoia= means to transcend beyond your thoughts back to the word of God. Deny your thoughts that tell you that you’re still a sinner, and go back to the word that says you are righteous because Jesus did not fail on the cross. Thirdly the baptism referred to is a spiritual baptism not a water baptism which is just a declaration of faith. The spiritual baptism is what it’s important, we are all spiritually baptized by Ephesians 1:13. Once we believe the gospel of our salvation we are sealed with the Holy Ghost. Believing we are righteous and perfected by the grace of God through Jesus aka the gospel provides all we need to go to heaven. Nothing we humans can do, purely grace alone. How amazing is our God, amen!

@@CothjuanNow I'm really confused. You narrowed it down to one verse in the Bible. A verse where the writer was talking about taking away the old covenant to bring in the new. Not salvation. So by your one verse if I want to be saved, how then should I do it? Doesn't make any sense to me. Hebrews chapter 10 is speaking of sacrifice, not the born again experience. Remember, Jesus said, You must be born again of water and Spirit? Baptism in any variation means the same thing. Baptism, baptized, ect, is from the Greek word, baptizo, meaning, to make fully wet. Wash, washing, and to dip. Also, to stain (as with dye). According to you, we skip everything written in the book of Acts of the Apostles, and go to a book written to already born again believers. On the day of Pentecost, (Acts 2, is the day the church began. About 120 followers of Christ gathered in an upper room at the Temple, and waited for 10 days. Then the Holy Ghost fell on them and they all spoke with other tongues. The Jews gathered outside to celebrate the feast heard them and asked what was going on? Peter stood up and preached that first new testament sermon. When the Jews were convicted by the fact their Messiah already came and was crucified, died, and resurrected from the grave they asked, What shall we do? Peter said to them, Repent, (metanoia. To think differently.) and be baptized ( baptizo, wash, dip, to make fully wet. So water had to be used in baptism.) everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for (not because of, but for) the remission (aphesis, parden, forgiveness.) Of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you and to your children, and to all that are a far off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. This is the one and only plan for the new birth. It is confirmed in many places in the rest of the new testament books.

Water baptism does not get you saved, again it’s a spiritual baptism required. Jesus was water baptized to receive the transfer of sin onto him as stated in Leviticus 11, that’s why John the Baptist who was the best high priest the next day states in John 1:29 here comes the lamb who taketh away the sin of the world (past tense) It does come down to one verse in Hebrews, it’s the gospel. Hebrews 10:10 is the new covenant God made with man, Hebrews 10:17 “and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more” Paul prefaces these verses with Hebrews 6:1 to go on from doctrine, things that only bring division like tongues, gifts, traditions. The gospel of Jesus is more than enough, all we have to do is believe. God is truly a god of grace

@@Cothjuan So Moody says one thing, well a lot more than one. You say something else and another person says something different than the both of you. And you all read from the same Bible. More or less. That's confusion, and God is not the author of confusion. There is about 220 religious denominations in the USA, all saying different ways to be saved. If that isn't confusion, I don't know what is. One thing I do know is that it never comes down to one verse. You say water baptism doesn't save, yet the Bible disagrees with you. Matthew 28:19, ...teach all nation's, baptizing them ..or immerse them in water. Mark 16:16, He that believes and is baptized shall be saved. 1Peter 3:20-21 (speaking of Noah and his family being saved by water, the like figure where unto baptism doth now save us... I'll stick to scripture. Jesus wasn't baptized so sin could transfer to him. Baptism is for washing away sin not transferring it to people. Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? Arise and be baptized, and wash away they sins, calling on the name of the Lord. I don't see how you can ignore all the other verses and stick to just one. The book of Hebrews is a study in the law and what it meant, and how it was full filled in Christ. You mention Leviticus 11, which is about clean and unclean animals ect. Has nothing to do with Jesus baptism. Jesus Christ was baptized to fulfll all righteousness. Not to become sin. Jesus Christ was baptized by John, (John never became a priest so he couldn't be a high priest) the son of a priest to fulfill the righteousness of the law. Leviticus 8:6-13. The consecration of the priesthood. Verse 6, And Moses brought Aaron and his sons, and washed them with water. So Jesus obeyed this by being washed, not that he had sin to wash away, Jesus Christ is without sin yet he was baptized (washed) to become our high priest. But not a high priest after the order of Aaron, but after the order of Melchizedek, a high priest forever. The problem I see with Christianity today is most all Christians spend all their time explaining away the scriptures, instead of believing and obeying them. You'll never learn the Bible if you can't rightly divide the word of truth. Don't just read one verse and say, That's all we need. Like I tell everyone I know, There is always another verse. All scripture, especially on what salvation is, or verses on how to be born again, or saved, are partial accounts. You have to read all of them,. Baptism is in water, then you are to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, as the scripture says. When you receive the Holy Ghost, you will speak in an unknown tongue according to the scriptures. Just like the disciples did on the day of Pentecost. Just like Cornelius did in Acts chapter 10.

@@CothjuanYou have me very confused with your interpretation of Hebrews 6:1. So Paul writes to the Corinthian church and for three chapters explains tongues , the gift of tongues, and it's proper use then the Hebrew write says to go on from that because it causes divisions? Yet the phrase because it causes divisions isn't written in the Bible. So you added that part. What the writer was simply explaining is, that we need to leave, or, 'to go'. To go on from. Not to forget about it. In other words, the writer was saying that the foundation has been built now let's go on into perfection, or maturity. If you start to build a house, you start with the foundation. Once It's laid, you don't keep building the foundation. You start to build the house. Acts 2:42, And they continued steadfastly in the Apostles doctrine....Jude verse 3, ...I gave all diligence to write to you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. Titus 1:4, To Titus mine own son after the common faith... The early church all believed the same doctrine. They didn't have all these different denominations like we do today. Man started these denominations over the centuries. No they weren't being told to drop doctrines because they cause divisions, man causes divisions by unbelief. They all had one doctrine, one common faith, we're in one accord. The problem with the churches today is they are stuck in traditions of man. Like I said before, there are about 220 religious denominations in America, all preaching something different, some aren't even preaching Bible anymore, but their own seducing lies. Paul wrote to the Ephesians 4:11-13 And he gave some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelist and pastors and teachers. For the perfecting of the saints...till we all come in the unity of the faith. The churches today are no where near having unity of the faith, but are the most divided organization in the world. 220 denominations and none can agree even on the common salvation of baptism and speaking in tongues. The churches, somehow, have to come into unity of the faith once again. Paul also wrote in Ephesians 2:20-22, And are built upon the foundation of the Apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone. In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto a holy Temple in the Lord. In whom ye are also are builded together for a habitation of God through the Spirit. No my friend, Good didn't have the apostles lay a foundation of repentance, and baptism and receiving the Holy Ghost, just to tell the churches to tear out the foundation a couple of years later. But to not just stay there, but grow in the faith unto maturity. Keeping the foundation intact. The churches today have torn out the old foundation and built their own, and some have removed the foundation all together.
