You will really like the lift table. I have one from Harbor Freight that I use to lift console stereos. I just lift one end up, shove the cart under it in the center, then lift it up to bench height. I can just sit in my shop chair and not have to bend over and crawl around to service it. Works great for moving those boat anchors around as well.

Terry I know you are doing the right thing! Quitting a secure job is hard, making a living on your own is hard, making it work is fantastic! Things are going to get better in that you will have plenty of repair work. Things going to get worse in that you are going to get plenty of repair work! Know what I mean? It’s always better to be behind than caught up! You will do fine! You are very lucky to have your wife and family! Love from your buddy in NW Colorado. Thanxz

Good plan. As soon as I saw the family room I said "THAT would be my workshop!" Then you'd have the existing D-Lab area for storage. Stack up some shelving around the walls and maybe one central shelving unit along the middle. Designate one area for incoming jobs, one area for jobs waiting for parts etc and another area for finished.

At least you have room for expansion. I'm stuck in a second bedroom about 12x14. ☹️
@LesT5372 жыл бұрын
Good luck with the expansion. A lighting suggestion... My basement/workshop/studio was fully lit by 4 ft 4 tube fluorescent fixtures that never really provided great light. Recently I converted all those to led tubes. Ended up having to remove 1 led tube from each fixture because it was too bright. Best upgrade I have made to my space. Maybe something helpful for you also. I imagine that would be more cost effective than replacing with new fixtures.

People are constantly asking, "where can i get my vintage xxxxx repaired?", (like tube amps, radios, reel to reel, ham radio, etc.), To make a living, you may have to do like five+ repairs or restorations per day (two hours), or over 100 per month. Add YT views, and you should do OK. Mahy repairs shops are by gone do to throw away junk, but tube stuff holds it value, and for many are worth the cost of repairs. Few have the know how or place to do that work. So Terry, looks like you found your nitch, I hope that you are loaded with much needed work OM. Now advertise on YT and other media, tell people how to contact D Labs.
@srtamplification2 жыл бұрын
Looks like you have your work cut out for ya. I need to come up there and have you educate me on HAM radios. I have been wanting to get into the hobby for a while. I have an old tube transceiver, but haven't done anything with it yet. I really want to get my license.
