DLG Flying for 1000 Subscribers! PLUS New Channel Name?

Hey guys! In this video, I somewhat celebrate having reached 1000 subscribers with some nice DLG flights. I also suggest that my channel name ought to be changed to something which more accurately represents my interest in sailplanes. So put your thoughts and ideas in the comments regarding a new channel name!

Yeah it's great fun. I aim to study aerospace at university and keep on with aviation my whole life. It is quite amazing to watch how the innovations in aerospace come about. I mean, in the seven years I've been in the hobby, brushless motors have doubled in weight/thrust efficiency, LiPo energy density has increased noticeably, high torque servos have gone down 20% in price, and balsa...well unfortunately balsa hasn't gotten any lighter...🤣 Yeah, it's the best! :)

Congratulations! ...and regarding a name, why not bridge the gap somehow instead of giving up your roots. There are many valuable skills from rotor aircraft that might find a home in dlg's. A two gram 1s FC for example might assist on yaw stabilization during launch, blackbox logging might show us subtle flight characteristics or changes inside thermals we were previously unaware of watching from the ground, or maybe an autonomous rotor vehicle could fly in "follow me" mode chasing your glider through a launch and flight producing epic video. Anyway, my suggestion would be to integrate your previous interests into both your channel and life to maintain a diversity that will make many happy decades hobby fun. Love your channel and your work man. Keep it up!

Dang dude congrats! I remember when you had less than 200 subs! Maybe for a new channel name you could use something that’s the same sort of style as your current name. For example Planeguy or DLGdude to throw some names around. Anyway it’s just awesome that you’ve come this far and I hope you continue to grow.

Super congrats on 1000 subs, It is a great result and shows your hard work. I had come to a similar point about 2 years ago and as you know I now go by Allen Moore RC which is more generic but allows me to diversify my content. Aerodude RC??? Just a thought!

Since you seem to inching toward dropping the "dude", perhaps going for a more dedicated channel name such as Custom Glider or Experimental Glider channel.

But hey it's nice to even have my work recognized so I'm not complaining. :) Thanks for the support. Channel name and avatar change likely to come in the future.

Congrats for 1000 subs, much more to come hopefully. It is probably ok to keep your channel name since many youtube channels have names that are completely unrelated to their content. Two of the rc airplane related channels I watch are called iforce2d and Andrew Newton for instance

Thanks! Yeah that's a good point. I was considering that too. The only difference is that iforce2 and Andrew Newton give no indication about what the channel does, whereas 'Copterdude' gives the false indication that I do rotorcraft. Well, I'll give it some more thought.

First, asking the interwebs to name something is a horrible idea, so this should fit... Fundamentally Flighty. Since you’re now pursuing the most elegant of RC, soaring, fundamentals are a must. However, I understand that KZbinrs have immense egos and that the ‘Flighty’ might be to self deprecating. If that’s the case how about Thermal Flight Commander, strong and aspirational. Lol, if you go with that one. I can’t sand, disabled now, so I’ll take a generous gift certificate to J&H Aerospace for use of my idea... they have wings already oiled and sanded. You should just go ahead and use a temporary logo, starting now.

Agreed. It's been nagging at me a lot recently; the higher my production quality gets, the more the 'dude' seems to misrepresent the intended integrity of my videos. Thanks for your input, it helped a lot. :)
