Can u do a video where u enase an opal in clear glass
@MattJasa5 жыл бұрын
Sure I can give it a try. I'll need to order some opals first and give it a little bit of practice. I know exactly how its done, I've just never practiced it before.

@@gabrielaguilar8108 I might order the 3mm spheres and coin opals to keep it small. Is there any specific ones you were looking at?

Hi, thanks for your useful videos. could you please help me by answering a question? I'm working with Murano glass and it break when I work on it and start to explode sometimes during the work. how could I resolve this problem?
@MattJasa3 жыл бұрын
Hey imaNeda Venice, Soft glass is more sensitive to heating and cooling. You can warm it slowly by jabbing it in-and-out of the flame real quick before you work with it. Also keep it warm until it gets into the kiln or it might crack. I use borosilicate in my videos except for this one which is Murano Effetre: kzbin.info/www/bejne/npemdKqJobtsp7s

when you're pulling stringers in bulk & storing them away for a future project. do you need to put them in the kiln to be annealed?
@MattJasa4 жыл бұрын
That's a good question I didn't think about that when I made the video, but no I don't think it would be necessary. Their so thin there's no where to build stress, and whatever stress is in it should dissipate with the heat as you use it later. Thanks for watching!

Hi Matt, be learning a lot from your work and explanation. I do have a question about a possible technique. Is it possible to take a a small glass figure you make and squish it between 2 molten glass gathers in order to encase the small figure without necessarily doing an emplosion?
@MattJasa5 жыл бұрын
Yea that should work to encase it, depending on the shape of the figure you might trap some air or disfigure it before its fully encased. I've seen something like that done for soft-glass paper weights. Implosions are slightly different from encasements. The color gets pulled and stretched through the glass as it implodes inward. Dots turn into lines, and lines stretch out like flower petals.
@kodyfrost5 жыл бұрын
@@MattJasa to limit any air I would try to make a more pointed gather, almost like the shape you made in your vortex marble video. Something I will have to try once I get my torch in
@MattJasa5 жыл бұрын
@@kodyfrost Yea making it more pointed should help. Let me know if you run into any problems setting up. Happy melting!

Reactive=striking?
@MattJasa5 жыл бұрын
Striking is the act of changing the color. To change your reactive rod you strike it in the flame or kiln. You can strike a rod multiple times, each time causes it to become darker in saturation.

I love it! Im gonna start lampworking soon and im trying to decide where to start!, learning to pull stringers seems like a very basic place to start, what do you recommend!!? Awesome video
@MattJasa5 жыл бұрын
Yes defiantly stringers are a good start. It is basic, but fundamental for most art projects. Also at the same time practice gathering clear glass into spheres. You can combine the two techniques to create marbles. Thanks for watching!

Sorry Enrico, my channel mainly focuses on hard glass. I recently ordered some some soft glass to practice with. I plan to introduce some soft glass into the channel eventually.
