In this video I detail my experience with the great Galion Audio TS34 tube integrated amp. I had a wonderful time listening to it and making this video!
www.galion-aud...
The amp is loaned to me by Galion audio. All of my comments are completely independent of Thomas and Galion, this is solely my unbiased opinion of this amp.This is a pre-production version, apparently the production one will be a bit smoother, but I had no issue with overly bright presentation or listening fatigue.
Associated equipment:
Opus 3 Continuo turntable
Origin Live Silver tonearm
Nagaoka MP-500 cartridge
Synthesis Roma 79DC tube phono preamp
MSB Link DAC
Doge 8 tube preamplifier
Krell KSA50 Power Amplifier
Carver Amazing Silver loudspeakers
Triangle Comete E standmount speakers
Noresco speakers (Isophon PH2132 driver)
Mix of cables-Atlas, Morrow, Neotech, DIY

Every time I see an amp, with tubes, it takes me back to the joy (!!) of trying to find a replacement tube for my tv.

Really happy for your reviews, Dave, have picked up an A75 this last month and am blown away. Am happily anticipating a rumored TS P75 for release early 2025, am currently without a preamp in my setup. I am very curious how the TS A20/A75 with a TS P75 will sound, especially compared to the pairs of integrateds you’ve reviewed, hope to hear more of your take.

Timestamping your video is encouraged and preferred esp. for those who own a few tube amps.

Hey yttean, good suggestion. I never use time stamps, which is why I didn't think to incorporate them. Can you explain what you are looking for in a timestamp? Thanks for watching!

Based on the reply below I will say that running a tube amplifier in class AB must be quite a challenge.

It’s not a hybrid amplifier. It’s a tube integrated amplifier.

Has anyone compared this amp to the manufacturers other amp of similar specs the Doge 10 mk3 ? Same plant makes both. They look very similar.

most likely tpa3116 not delivering 50w, it really depends on the power supply, tube should sound better at their max power 25w because tube clipping more pleasingly than 25w solidstate clipping, that gives the impression tube more powerful than solidstate..

I checked the specs of the board, I am running it at 20V so it should be 50W-8ohm. But I don't think I went to clipping on the Galion though...

To be fair, the Krell amp will kill most solid state amps not mention tubes. Yes a good tube amp seems to play bigger than it’s watts would Suggest.

. I really believe the question of what an Audiophile might like to see should be raised with the producer of this video. Is this the formula to best highlight pieces of gear? VIDEO-TIME ON PRODUCT ON FACE 1:27 - 1:29 3 seconds - 4:08 - 4:17 19 seconds - 8:24 - 9:02 38 seconds - 17:27 - 17:31 5 seconds - 25:55 - 26:24 29 seconds - TOTAL TIME 94 SECONDS 26 MIN. & 16 SEC. Hi Triamp, thanks for your helpful calculations. I'll start by asking you, what is the correct ratio of face to product? Thanks for watching!
@TriAmpHiFi
@TriAmpHiFi 12 сағат бұрын
@@davelistenstohifi . Well, I appreciate the non-hostile reply...................... I was commenting on your work not mine. I suggested no correct ratio. I can understand why you think so, but it's not a binary choice. There is a variety of apropos shots available. I took the minute to post the times because they're so lobsided. I figured the spotlight so glaring my question would become self-evident. Apparently not though. In the long run, learn AdSense. In the short run, get B-roll of the product on a lazy-Susan then share a partial split screen as you narrate. At least for a good chunk of the time. I'm certain I'm not the only enthusiast who wants to see the product as it's being described. Acid Jazz, Funk & Brass 🔈🔉🔊

Hi Triamp, I appreciate the feedback and I'm incorporating your ideas into my next video; maybe I'll give you credit ;-) I guess that I can keep an image of the product or piece of music on screen while I'm talking about it, I'll give it a shot. As for AdSense, i really don't care. In the end I'm just a guy talking to a camera on a tripod in my basement, and I get to play around with some cool hifi equipment as a result. If people like to watch, then great! If you want to give me pointers that will make my videos more interesting to watch, i value that as well. Thanks again for your interest!

@@davelistenstohifi I always prefer to see the images of equipment and specs on screen for as long as possible. I did have to stop the video and rewind a couple times to get a good look at some detail that interested me. Another detail that I am interested in is the arrangement between an audio gear reviewer and the manufacturer. Was it a loan, a purchase...? Also a list of associated equipment is useful. Don't take my comments as complaints. I really enjoyed the video and my interest in Galion keeps growing.

Made by Doge electronics, who have designed several high quality tube amps, and other tube devices such as pre-amps and DACs. Mr Liu the design engineer previously designed Jolinda tube amplifiers. I own thier KT 88 "Prima Donna" (a Doge 10 variant) bought in 2018. Thomas has enhanced this design with the addition of switchable tone controls, and his voiceing preferences. Sadly, it now seems the original products are no longer available as the Doge audio site remains off line. But my Doge amp has been reliable, and gives me the sound I want, which, for me, surpasses any solid state amplifier (class AB and class D) I have tried. It drives a pair of KEF R900 speakers bought new at the same time.
