Think you have a load of good ideas. I already do a couple things similar at my table. I agree with you about inspiration points - my players forget about it and they almost never get used. For the permanent spell component becoming a consumable, for lower level / cheaper spells I think that's OK, but for higher level / more expensive spells perhaps a dice roll? Roll a 1 or 2 (or less than 5 if you want it to be riskier) and the component becomes useless. Otherwise it survives to power another spell. Nowadays most of our games are on Roll20 as my players live a distance, and its just been easier to keep most dice rolls visible to all, but to hide the results of some, particularly contested rolls and death saves, would be interesting, so I might just see if it slows the online game down to switch. Thanks.

My games are all done on fantasy grounds so what I end up doing is just tell the players that they don’t have to roll and as the round is going on I’ll just roll for them. I’ve only been a player on the roll 20 so I’m not sure if there is a dice tower option, fantasy grounds has built right in and as long as the players know, they usually roll in the tower unless I tell them that they don’t have to. I do like your consumable idea with a one or a two. The only reason I say it gets consumed is that gives the DM a little bit more control over the game , also a lot of high-level spells automatically consume the item anyway. But with all homebrew you always gotta play it by ear, right?

I'm easy to please, every thing you do, i'm ok with! And I was like hey, I have shield, why are you saying that you don't have anyone that have it... until I realised you were speaking about the spell! Great video!

Loved the video, and pretty helpful. I recently entered the world of D&D in the most unreasonable way, which is by directly DMing in my first game ever, with my own homebrew campaign with homebrew mechanics... oh and all the players are inexperienced too, so I'll have to guide them... I'm spending a LOT of time on it, but I think it'll be worth it... So, I agree with practically everything you said, I am making things more realistic with a little difficulty twist too, like for example I have changed the strength and weight mechanics too, so that "what" and "how much" becomes more meaningful... Now, I'd like to share some homebrew mechanics I created that I think are cool: 1st. Similarly as what you said, the stuff you have on you need to be realistically carried, so I think only 5 weapons can be carried before having disadvantages, (because there's no way you can fight with eight longswords, three crossbows and two greataxes on you) maybe it can even depend on the dimensions, like you could carry a total of 10 daggers, but no more than 2 great swords... idk... 2nd. The whole death savings throws feels weird to me, at 1HP you are completely fine and all of the sudden you are unconscious... so for me, upon reaching 0HP you are dying but still conscious, you can perform simple actions but with disadvantages and moving at half speed, of course you're dying so the saving throws are for not losing more health... if you reach -3HP then you are unconscious or dead... (and yeah, in my opinion if you take 50 damage and you are at 10HP, you die instantly, like no way you're still alive but unconscious xD) 3rd. Last but not least, (because I could write a book if I continue and this is already long) damage types... when I discovered that the only difference between getting slashing or fire damage is if I'm resistant or vulnerable to it, it felt a bit empty... so I added status effects for each damage type, for example slashing leads to bleeding, fire just puts you on fire, necrotic whithers you, etc... so you would get these status effects on crits, for example if I crit with bludgening I stunn the enemy, and of course the effects can be removed in different ways, it's all long so I'm not entering in too much details... But I think it's pretty cool, plus psychic damage leads to paranoia, which makes so much sense... Sorry for the GARGANTUAN amount of text, I'm just really excited about this... great video... if you read all of this thank you for your time :3

That’s awesome, a lot of those those rules that you mentioned are somewhat similar to the D&D official rules , or some of the stuff they are changing for the new edition that’s coming out. I only see one problem with everything that you’re doing, it’s a lot of work for you, but if it works and everyone can remember the rules that’s all that matters. I’m glad that you liked the video. I plan on making more. Hopefully you’ll stick around.

@@KivoxEnder Thanks, the new edition sounds great, and yeah it's a lot, but I'm taking my time to do it with the right amount of notes, etc... and I already talked to the players and all of them are OK with my rules, so when we'll ACTUALLY begin it'll be awesome... xD And YES, I would love to see more of this kind of videos, I'll definitely stick around... and maybe watch past videos too... keep it going, and have a great day 👍

@sceleton1453 I don’t have many dnd videos on the channel, but I always want to make more. It’s one of my biggest hobbies. As of right now I don’t have a lot but I have plans on making more, I’ll probably record one today 😁. Thanks again for being so nice. Do you have any requests for what you would like to see. I was thinking about going further in depth into one of the spells I mentioned in the video

@@KivoxEnder ok, yeah it's going to be one of my biggest hobbies too... I would love to see some more in depth videos for the spells, maybe I'll get some inspiration to homebrew some magic too... :D But yeah anything related to homebrew would be interesting for me, no particular requests for now... have a D20 with advantage of nice days... xD

You're funny on x2 speed. D&D sounds complicated, I think I'll give it a miss.

It is and isn’t at the same time, there are a lot of rules, but unlike other games, you can try to do anything, and the DM and rules will tell you if you can, or can’t do it

Its easier at the beginning. Like anything else, you need to try it to really know. 😊

I would say that it's more complicated if you're a DM and doing homebrew... but as a player it's actually more simple, and you get to ask for all the complicated stuff to the DM...
