Thank you so much for doing this honest review! I’ve already had Covert instruments come after me on a live over some stuff I’ve said on a video so I don’t feel like doing any critical review with them at all but everything you said is 100% spot on… it’s all just a little bit too small. It’s just that small amount makes for cramped hand for us with big hands.

Thank you for doing this review DMAC! I agree 100% with your assessment of this set and I am glad to hear I was not alone. Having larger hands myself, I found this set difficult to use and for the most part the tips too short. Thank you again for your review!

@@TheLockPicker1969 cheers mate. It is a shame about the size of it all. Just a bit more length would make it more useable for us big-mitted knuckle-draggers 😁👍🏻

I have extra large hands, too, and I completely agree. If they were to sell an extended version of this set, I would buy it even though I have these. I think the profiles are great, and I like the design of the turners but just won't work for long pick sessions. There's nothing worse than getting pretty far into a pick, and your hand starts cramping. I haven't found that a vice helps much, either.🤠

I mentioned the wrenches were cool but short on a CI short and McNally replied saying the wrenches are shorter to help when picking in the field, when space is tight against a door jamb or other obstruction. I'd forgotten about locksmiths working in the real world, and was thinking only about locksport!
@DmaclocksportАй бұрын
@@LockSpaz A good point. I can see that being a valid reason possibly. But, in the field, you could use a plug spinner if the door jamb is in the way. I think this set is marketed towards locksporters and fans of mcnally's shorts rather than locksmiths to be honest. Locksmiths would veer towards a rake heavy set.

The rizz pick is like a jackknife version of these profiles. It’s great

Good review. I do not have these picks BTW, but the tapered length of the hooks from deep to shallow is puzzling. Eschlenz has a solution for the handles with his "slim cloaks" which would help those pickers with large hands. I'm really looking forward to you guys reviewing the Apex set when it does come out. Keep it up! 😀

Excellent review and your thoughts mirror mine. I had some issues picking some extreme bitting in a 72/40 and a couple of other locks. Absolutely love the look of the set and like the supporting tangs making them more like a custom pick but the short handles and short tangs are rough to use. I didn’t think I had large hands but they are big for these picks 😆. The one thing I do love are bok tensioners. Hopefully they will release those as a single item. Those would replace the other ones I have and would love a set in my van for a working daily set. Cheers my friend 🍻✌🏻🌶

The pocket on the top of the cases aren’t meant for extra picks I think. They are meant from r credit card latch slipper
@DmaclocksportАй бұрын
@@dropshot2437 100%, you're right. My observation was just that if they had made the pocket a little deeper (like the echelon case), it would give you the option to keep extra picks there if you wanted. Not a big problem, I'd just like the versatility 😎👍🏻

Which euro cylinder would you recommend as the most secure? I need to upgrade my house, but I need a lock that allows a key in both sides for the front door
@Dmaclocksport21 күн бұрын
@@jackoconnor21 without spending silly money on virtually unpickable locks like evva 3ks or similar, I'd look at a 3 star British Standard rated euro like an ABS Avocet or Yale platinum. Lots of drill protection, anti-snap features and certainly won't be raked open or opened with an EPG. 😁👌🏼

First off, I don't own the set. The picks themselves look interesting, and I'd be curious to try the profiles. The tensioners, I don't overly care for the looks of them, and it seems like the design elements might just get in the way, or just be uncomfortable to use. Though again, I've never handled them. Given their apparent size relative to my hand size, I think I'll steer clear. Maybe they'll make a set with longer shanks and longer handles for those of us with larger hands or who simply prefer a tool that doesn't feel like it really has to reach to get to that 6th or even 7th pin and still have dexterity. Instead of the 'Reaper', they could call it the 'Grim' or the 'Scythe', to keep with the overall theme.

As you well know, I'm a fan of a small pick - Southord, Peterson - but these look too small and fiddly for me. The ones I mentioned have a particular feel to them, and the dimensions suit my hands. These, not so much. And my thoughts on The Lock Picking Shill are well known.
