Well having worked on small blocks for 20+ years I’ve never heard a cam bearing just suddenly make that noise. You would have heard a lifter tick well before the bearing squeal. And 16:32 you can hear the squeal as well. Like others said. Pull the belt and fire it up. See if the noise it there. 5/30 idle at 20psi warm doesn’t scare me. Rev it up if it goes to 40+ when it’s warm then that to me is normal for a sbc.

As a marine mechanic I work on pretty much the same engines everyday. Take it out put it on a stand fix it and then bring it to a dyno and test it and tune it

Ryno you need a dry erase board. For lists without being permanent. You can try and take a dry erase marker and write over the sharpie to see if it erases. I only commented cause of the way you looked at it. Plus you looked like you were seeing if it rub off.

I had same problem with oil flow on my 350. My cam bearings were installed wrong . I had a new set installed correctly and everything worked right and oil was flowing like it should after that

Yeah honestly it could've been any of the pulleys in the FEAD (Front End Auxiliary Drive). But on the flip I don't think Ryno titled this video like that without them knowing it was a cam bearing.

I guess Dedick doesn’t know that there’s a priming tool that hooks up to a drill and does all that for you so you can make sure that everything is getting oil to all the cylinders. You didn’t think that wasn’t going to happen of all the times you where running the motor trying to see if you where getting oil coming up

Those distributors are known for the pick up to go bad on them And The Wire you're looking for is under the dash by the heater blower motor to unplugged for the timing along with the one under the hood and it's 15° according to the book and then you plug The Wire in an advances that like 30° And if there's any corrosion on the pick up thing when you pull the cap and rotor off it's probably junk

I rebuilt an old 454 and used the old distributor and drill to make sure I was getting oil to the top end. I also made sure to fully seat the new distributor to the intake before firing it up. Granted, I had some help from my brother in law who does stock car races, but everything being complained about can be avoided if you actually take your time and not rush anything.
