Just because the story was bad or the ending was bad to u doesnt mean it was bad for the rest of the people most people who whine and moan online anymore are a minority of complainers. Look at every game on the market and look in the forums your see what i mean.

Two I'll give you because it was utter garbage, but honestly I think 4 is still miles better than this. Better environments, better frame rate, way better combat mechanics ((the use of the d pad to switch styles was fantastic, plus the combat was generally more complex and challenging)) and even though the story was half baked I preferred no-fun Nero and uncle Dante to this walking skidmark

Savaralyn 0 I disagree. DMC4 was too anime generic and didn't really add anything new to the story. Not even comparing it to DmC, but to the rest of the old series like 1 through 3. And honestly, DMC4 was the worst for me. Worse then even 2 because at least 2 didn't try to be Bleach (the most generic of shonen anime) with Dante in it. Nero cried for Kyrie way too much for my taste. It's like DMC4 was melodrama may cry 4 instead. Dante was just a joke in DMC4 and a immature parody of what he use to be. The enviornment was great...the first time going through. Then I had to backtrack for no goddamn reason as Dante and fight the exact same villians again. Lady and Trish barely did a damn thing in the game, the bosses were too anime, less like actual demons. Plus it was half a game anyway. new Dante may be a skidmark but to me, a skidmark is better then tire pavement.

If you want to talk about generic anime I'd compare that more to the second and even first games in the series more than 4. And like I said, the story was the weak point in the game, that's mainly due to the fact they didn't actually finish it. But they didn't need to scrap the entire continuity and start again, they just needed to put more effort in ((like with the transition from 2 to 3)). Honestly it was kind of refreshing in the game to play someone as emotional as Nero, I found him to be okay, he fit in with the over the top-ness of the story and other characters, not as good as Dante but at least they were taking some controlled risks, I was looking forward to more development for him in a new game, but instead we got asshole Dante who can't go two steps without saying something mean that makes him seem like an asshole. You call Dante an immature parody of himself but honestly I think this is probably the most 'mature' we've seen him and a great continuation from 3, he's been through a lot and while you can still see the jokey side from 3, it's obvious that this Dante is more experienced at this point, willing to slow down and help Nero as well as the fact that he's gotten more acceptant of his emotional side unlike 3. This point I agree with you, it was basically half a game, Capcom really fucked up in the development for this game, but honestly if they had actually done their job right and finished the game I think it would've been amazing. But as I said, enough people were on to the series by now that they didn't need to basically destroy any possible continuation to the story. Scaling the games from best to worst it would probably go like DMC3>DMC1>DMC4>DMC2>>>DmC I'd suggest watching something like this to see what I mean.
