I liked the changes with Vergils lines and Neroes tone. In the English version Vergil already knew before the final fight that Nero was his son and then goes “Nero…my son?” And Nero is overall just a lot more boastful and loud mouthed while he’s more mature and soft spoken (which is weird because it’s Johnny Young Bosh). I like both versions, but Vergils Hirata is my favourite.

The direction is given the same treatment and nuances in EN as in JP (which is the major factor why some EN dubs, mostly in anime, seem to suck), which is why there's so much charm in the EN dub here. This is where both the JP and EN qualities of dubbing are equally good. EN didn't try to copy the JP (I'm just spiting at anime en dubs here) dubs but they fully utilised the unique charm English as a language can provide and made it awesome like when nero says 'fuck you' that's a good feeling, and JP holds the same depth and intensity. PS. I didn't mean that JP dub came out before, but I was just emphasising on why the en voices were just charming. And I also edited the comment to avoid any further misunderstandings.

As much as the English voices are iconic to the English side of the players, it's probably the same with the JP VA's for the JP players of the game, seeing as these voice actors are really popular anime seiyuu. Although, I do wish they made another DMC anime, this time having more episodes and more in-depth story with these characters. It doesn't even have to be an adaptation of the games' stories, and instead be an original one that shows more of the details in Dante's devil hunter life.

Well the voice actors that devil may cry used were from anime side of business. On both sides. Nero for example is Johnny Yong Bosch. He was in nearly every anime English dub. He now does it less but it used to be that he was in nearly every show voicing something.
