There is a tight frame window where this happens. It also works for Beowulf combo b, it skips the straight and goes from the kicks to the wings instantly.

You can do this with a lot of Vergil's moveset. To do it you simply have to activate SDT as soon as the move comes out So for instance, Vergil did combo B which is triangle triangle, triangle On the third triangle, a split second after you press triangle you should activate SDT

As Zesork said, the timing is strict. With a lot of practice it can be done easily

You can even do it with Yamato aerial combo B, you can skip the 3rd attack which is the spinning move and finish with the downward strike

I parries any parriable projectile, Vergil vs Vergil is literally won by standing still to reflect the swords back at him.
