I've watched this video at least one time per year since Dmitri left. It's tremendously admirable this performance considering his terminal disease condition. Of course, he's certainly below his highest level, but it makes me desire to be there at that moment and to appreciate just his pure heart and his pure talented singing art. For me, it's a true demonstration of pushing yourself by your passion until the end. Thanks god we have internet today making possible to access to Dmitri's great legacy forever. I was there. It was the only time I ever saw Dima. I only got into opera about a year after he was diagnosed. I was 13 years old and sitting near the back of the orchestra, and I had a cold. I have more than half a century of opera-going in the future. I’m sure I will see over a thousand performances. No matter how many performances I see, I have no doubt that this will remain one of the most treasured operatic experiences of my entire life, even to the very end. Thank you, Dima. I almost cried at the end And I was kind of scared in the beginning From how I watched him, being my idol, he did not look like himself, but the immense voice, the noble Dima was still there. I hope I can see or hear someone like him one day, or someone at least as noble as him

What a heartbreaking yet glorious finale! The tears won't stop flowing. Dying on St. Cecilia's day, my Saint day and the Patrion Saint of Music, surely means he went straight through the Heavenly Gates to be greeted by my beloved Luciano and Joan....to sing in glory with them forever....
Even 3 years after his death this singing brings sweet memories and warm feelings. This is the level of Benjamin Gigli and Maria Callas. Why oh why did cancer had to take this unique man.
