Dmitry Bivol vs. Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez - FIGHT COUNTDOWN (4K)

The WBA have officially ordered light heavyweight titleholder Dmitry Bivol to defend his belt against Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez, potentially ending any speculation about Bivol’s next opponent this fall.
Bivol (20-0, 11 KO), of course, is coming off of a huge career-booster win over Canelo Alvarez on May 7, and has been slated to return in September or October, with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing looking to line him up close to Canelo’s return against Gennadiy Golovkin on Sept. 17.
The plan is to do a Bivol vs Canelo rematch next Cinco De Mayo weekend, in 2023, but with Zurdo now being his next opponent, perhaps things aren't as clear cut as they seem.
In this weeks video, we'll be taking a closer look at both Bivol and Zurdo's previous opponents, and how their style's stack up against each other.

Southpaws like Zurdo with his height and reach will be a real challenge for Bivol. I do not even rule out a draw in their match and yet give a slight advantage to Bivol - not because he beat Canelo but because of his footwork, handspeed, movement, energy and agility. Nevertheless, I foresee a very close fight. I do not think Beterbiev vs Yarde will be close, I think Yarde will be done by the fifth or sixth round.

I rate Bivol a lot higher than Zurdo, but I'm not to confident about how the direct matchup plays out. The huge size difference is not a big deal all by itself, since Bivol deals with that all the time - but huge, unorthodox, and full of savvy vet moves is an interesting package to put up against a smaller pure stylist. Given the likelihood of favourable refereeing and judging, maybe Zurdo could come up with a cheese strat he could abuse all night to get the W.

Bivol looks better than Zurdo. He seems faster, well balanced, & sharper, but they both work off their jabs & Zurdos is longer & he's much taller. They both like mixing it up, but I think for a long tall guy like Zurdo he's really powerful inside with an unusually compact style more like shorter guys. Bivols aggressive & he won't shy away from close range & that's where I think he could get hurt. If he stays outside Zurdo has the length. If he comes in he could get caught pretty good, but I don't underestimate Bivols talent or heart. That said Zurdo calls Bivols style weird, but Zurdos is awkward & unusual for his size. I think it almost cancels each other's advantages. I honestly don't know about this one. It could go either way, which may make a great fight. I can see why Bivol wanted to face Bautsi.
