These techniques that Pirog used are not exclusive to American fighters, they are just more frequently used by some Americans. But the Eastern European system roduced fighters who knew such techniques. Europe is where boxing originated and Russia has a long tradition, despite the fact that boxing is not as widespread as say in the UK or the USA.

Boxing is widespread, but in terms of percentage of those interested in martial arts compared to other countries, Russia is still a bit lower. Despite that, they, along with the close to them nations of the former USSR, have produced some of the best fighters, because they know how to at least train properly.

His head movement reminds me of Sugar Ray and Money. That really causes many fighters problems trying to calculate where his head will be when they launch. Never underestimate Russian/Ukraine fighters. They are taught to be tough very young. I've seen fights in the Metro in Moscow. Ten kids fighting 10 other kids. None of them backdown. Pirog, I never saw you before. But I will follow you now. Lukashenko, Bivol, and now you....keep putting in the work. Would love to see you fight Canelo if the weight can be agreed upon.

I think the referee did the right thing, it wasn't a knockdown but a real knockout, the guy lost consciousness, of course he could have gotten up on his moral and volitional qualities but he would hardly have been able to continue the fight and therefore, so that the athlete wouldn't get any additional injuries, the referee stopped him in this way
