Nice to see someone who knows how to frame the roof overhangs at the gable ends properly, most framers fail here!
@Deerrus4 ай бұрын
Can you elaborate? How do most fail? Just curious, I like reading and watching things on framing and woodwork. Thanks-
@bradentokoly4 ай бұрын
I believe he's referring to the new "production framing" practice of just nailing overhangs on rake walls as apposed to running cantilevered / outrigger overhangs like you see this gentleman do here. I personally agree with @drumswest5035. @@Deerrus

Looks good,but the bottom plates should be presser treated, or ice shield under the bottom plates,if you put them on concrete !
@wyattprout8 ай бұрын
was coming to say this
@sandra68668 ай бұрын
If you look closely you can see there is a sill protective strip between the sill plate and the concrete slab. Commonly used in Finland and Sweden as well. Pressure treated wood used for sill plates in the 60s and 70s has been found to cause bad smell and toxic gases in the house over time when the moisture level in the sill has risen. So nowadays we use regular construction wood with sill protection between wood and concrete.

@alecsandrdobrelya95717 ай бұрын

@meandnature64529 ай бұрын
then you dont need osb on the outside
@bobs12andahalf28 ай бұрын
@@MrUnamazait's the normal procedure for Canadian/Finnish framing and yes, it's standard practice in Russia. Houses without bracing and without a rigid osb or other sheet-type external (under)cladding eventually lean away from the prevailing wind and lose structural integrity. My only criticism here would be the use of 100 mm board - I would use 150 and cut the notches tighter. But I'd happily work with this guy on a build project - as they say in Russia "his arms grow from the right place" (i.e. not from his ass).
