Really great video. Fairly new to the hobby and it made me think about a few things I'm doing and that I should probably change a bit. Would love to see a video where not only one brand of product is used, even two... But if it works, I suppose. I appreciate the info!

Beautiful colors of those corals and very informative video. But the tang in that tank Zebrasoma veliferum 19:34 is too skinny imo. I have been snorkeling in the Red Sea (Marsa Alam) four weeks ago and have seen hundreds of tangs (Zebrasoma desjardinii, xanthurum, Acanthurus sohal) and none of them was skinny. Actually they were fat and well fed. Hence I think this tang doesn't get enough food.

Yes, bring on more fat fish! Love them.

Woohoo! Excellent detail guys, the hobby is hungry for more in depth info on theory over products :). RIP Jake 2022 My foods for a mixed (SPS heavy) 20G -Live Phyto (rich in amino acids) 5ml every other day -Oyster Feast (may switch to min s next time I need more) 3-5 drops daily -Coral Frenzy (could be coral sprint) 1/8 tsp daily -Reef Frenzy 1 square inch daily The powder and frozen are mixed in 15ml tank water, and fed in several servings. My tank is decently stocked with SPS, but only 4 small fish. With fewer fish, I figure feed the corals directly too. NO3 5 : PO4 0.05 according to the Hannas, as of yesterday.
@TreasureCorals Жыл бұрын
And do your SPS exhibit polyp extension?
@PnCBio Жыл бұрын
@@TreasureCorals yes, but the tank has softies. We change carbon frequently to minimize chemical warfare in the water. PE is good considering that, but it would be better without the leather, GSP, and gorgs. Only recently learned the last two released chemical warfare, although don’t sting anything.

Mainly liquid foods, min S, oyster feast, marine snow, or any other liquid food usually
@TreasureCorals Жыл бұрын
Do you think they use their polyps to absorb it or there's a different mechanism? In other words - if the SPS coral does not have polyp extension - does it still consume/benefit from liquid food?
@PnCBio Жыл бұрын
@@TreasureCorals liqui (mins/oyster feast) for the polyps to hunt, aminos for transdermal absorbtion, is my anecdotal 🧐
@MACNTOSFAM Жыл бұрын
i believe zoanthids & palys aren’t a soft coral/ softy but have their own family. also, when adding aminos just like he mentioned, as it also feeds corals & algae… it also feeds cyanobacteria & dinoflagelletes. that’s why many recommend reducing or suspending amino acid supplementation during a fight against dino & cyano

@TreasureCorals2 жыл бұрын
That makes two of us. I'm not so great with polyp extensions either, so far it appears to be strong flow and enough nutrients in the tank, but I got both and yet many corals do not exhibit the PE I would expect. I'll focus on this in one of my videos soon - great topic!

Hey, Just an fyi we have and never will be SPONSORED by fauna marin. That is simply something they do not offer. I use the brand as i find they have the best quality and highest of standards. Moving into my new store with a 3000 gallon coral system i still use the same products and salt from them because they work the best for me and my customers. However, i have been contacted by many other companies to use their products FREE of charge and I declined. So please stop spreading misinformation.
