With the start of play delayed at the 1985 Trent Bridge Test, this was aired. It was concluded during the tea break.

Love these 'extended' highlights - it shows just how test cricket was played near 40 years ago- lower run rate, far more attacking field placings but an increased over rate.

This was the match that turned me from a football fan into a cricket alcoholic lol…I was 14 at the time and at boarding School. I thank my old English teacher at the time, he was a cricket fan as well for teaching me the game. So I watched this one. I didn’t fully appreciate the dire situation England were in when they had to follow on, I was just hoping for a good performance from Ian Botham, and was thrilled watching his slog fest. For some reason I thought England could win. My teacher said “ Listen laddie, no test team in history has won a match from following on, and it isn’t going to happen here either.” How wrong he was.

I was at work. They rigged the phones so we couldn't call the cricket line and hear the score. A guy from another office was there for a meeting and came running downstairs to phone his secretary so she could find out the score from there. I asked what happened and he said "we beat 'em". I said "You're mad". End of the day, newsagents at the bottom of the hill, picture of Bob Willis on the front. Still didn't believe it till I got home and heard it on the radio. Things like that don't happen, until they do.

I think Bob Willis was described as having eyes like ‘ pissholes in the snow ‘ while he was bowling!!
