Very nice! I like the stock trucks going exploring and camping because I do it here in Arizona with my Jeep. This is really lining up nicely to go with Shauno's farm truck, Graham's old Nissan, and Jocko's little pony. I'm sure you all already have plans and schedules in the works ;) Cheers! Pete - KI7LIL

Good to see a classic getting some mechanical love , Could you tell me what brand the front wheel cylinders are and where sourced from please ? I just want to mention that it would be a sensible idea to remove the engine oil cooler housing from the side of engine and inspect the housings aluminum casting for corrosion . In neglected cooling systems they corrode and pin hole causing coolant loss resulting in engine overheat , permanent damage . The core / welch plugs in cylinder head and engine block , originals are carbon steel and rust from behind pin hole leakage . I suggest replace all . carbon steel heater pipes and heater taps rust under hoses , another source of engine coolant loss . im sure you have come across it before . preventative maintenance is cheaper in the long run and keeps reliability, if work is performed correctly . Cheap insurance is fit a low coolant warning alarm system ,a sensor probe in top radiator tank , if coolant leaks alarm in cabin ( fit a audiable buzzer ) will let you know . ive seen these save several engines from expensive damage . Good to see you made a point about replacing brake hydraulics and i see new flexible brake hoses . if the four wheel drum brake system is all in good condition and adjusted well , you can lock up all wheels with not much effort , put you through the windscreen . so many people bag drum brakes out there , possibly because they have driven a cruiser with neglected drums not working well , pulling to one side or having to pump the pedal to try stop . another topic is the fan clutch , id say its original , internal wear causes them to engage later than they should meaning engine will be at higher temp before fan starts to engage to bring temp down , also seal and bearings will be stuffed . Aisin aftermarket fan clutch FCT-058 available from exedy or cooldrive is original equipment . aisin water pump also available . These old cruisers in their original un modified form are as honest as the day is long . Tough Stuff For The Rough Stuff !

As an ex radiator repairer it would have been better getting the radiator a proper clean out. It might not hurt fitting a radiator filter sock in the top inlet pipe to catch some of the rust particles from the old engine block.

Lovely Ep Love the old girls, why did you not replace all the Hoses especially the short bypass one on the the water pump, and all the heater hoses, and you fitted a heavy steel tray why, I had 1982 alloy tray Hj47 did 300, 000ks in it on the farm and all over the top end.

Just wondering why you went with drum brakes in the front? I assumed a later model like that would have been discs to start with but I guess different markets got different things (we got discs in 76 in the states).

Kinda cool living in a dry climate as a mechanic, nothing makes it that long where I live, not worth repairing let alone rebuilding, nothing comes apart, that truck would be needing a new frame for the second time by now. Than again I'd rather import a project than spend my time in an arid area, not to mention you have to drive on the wrong side of the road.
