As a person who has worked in stage lighting for the past 5 years, lights like these are great for beginners and pros wanting something cheap. The only issue with them is if you purchase them over long spans (such as purchasing 2 for a show and then needing more in a couple months) they usually end up being different builds and so the channel lists are incorrect or different from the originals, this usually ends up with you having to make new fixture profiles. Also they tend to break faster than professional lights (to be expected at the price) overall these ones are fantastic. Also, I would highly recommend against using XLR cables instead of DMX. It does work but the issue you will end up having in more professional fields is you might accidentally get confused and switch up your cables you can brick your lights, also with impedance XLR is 75 ohms where DMX is 110 ohms so you will actually be degrading your signal and may come into issues with runs over 10 ft. When it comes to using DMX in shows I recommend Enteccs open DMX pro box, it allows you to use DMX over USB and is great for PC softwares if you are using FPP or something similar. If you are using a dedicated controller with ethernet however use that. I hope this comment helps anyone with issues :D

Do you have any recomnendations for a similar featured fixture than can be about 10' diameter at 50' away? (using 2 to light up front platform in our church) (even better, and worth paying more if the size can be adjusted)
@6-IronАй бұрын
I was an LD in several nightclubs in the late 80’s early 90’s. Back then Vari-Lite were the only moving head fixtures and were only used in touring shows. We used Cyberlights in most of our installations. They were amazing effects at the time.

With these not being rated for outdoor use, curious what a dome/enclosure would cost, to make these work in areas that are cold, and get rain, ice and snow.

Yes I do agree. I haven't had a chance to look into that yet and I wasn't planning on adding these to the show until next year just because I don't have the time. But I'll make sure to share whatever I use to weatherproof them!

Wonder if you can make a simple enclosure using Plexiglass to seal the unit while allowing the bottom to open on a grate of some sort for ventilation or if it would fog up in the Rain and Snow. Curious what you come up with.
@How2PixelАй бұрын
That's what I was thinking too. However, the top would have to be a dome to make the beam not look weird. I won't be able to figure out anything for this year's show, but next year I will!

@WMLightingLLCАй бұрын
The code is only for new users. I did forget to mention that I have some experience with Temu. Prices, shipping, returns and cancelling orders all good. The amount of BS with "promotions" and "discounts" SUCK! They will really try to suck you in to spending more to get more discounts. If you are careful and really pay attention though, it is manageable.

This was something I was a little concerned about since I've heard of the problem before, but haven't had any experience with it. I'm just glad so far though that I haven't heard of anyone being scammed by or anything by this, and they are at least able to get the product

Totally unrelated question, but I'm having trouble understanding on making my own power injection wires and with how to add a fuse to it, and setting it up. Do you think you can do a newer and more specific video on how to make power injection wires?
@How2PixelАй бұрын
I didn't have a plan to update my power injection video anytime soon just because I thought I covered mostly everything in it. Is there a specific problem you're having or a specific thing you can't understand that I can maybe help you with here?
@jarrodsaraceno8054Ай бұрын
@@How2Pixel You explained how power inject works and how to do it perfectly! I was just wonder on the process of making the DIY power injection wire. (specifically on how you attached a fuse in the middle of the pigtail)
@How2Pixel27 күн бұрын
Oh ok, it was quite simple. I just took 2 single 16 AWG wires, soldered on an in-line fuse holder you can find at a lot of hardware stores, and then cut the wires to be the same length. Next, I soldered the negative wire of a pigtail to the wire without the fuse, the positive wire to the wire with the fuse, and then tapped off the data wire on that pigtail since it goes to nothing. Finally, I put electrical tape all around the 2 wires from the bottom all the way to near the top, that way it seemed like one single wire with a pigtail on the end.

This might be a dumb question and it isn't related to this video, but I'm new to pixels and was a little confused. If I were to have multiple props in my show, would I have to connect each one of them to a separate port on the controller? Like if I were to have a line of mini trees, would I have to connect each tree to an individual port, or could I daisy chain them all together and just tell Xlights where each one starts and ends on the chain? Thanks!
@How2PixelАй бұрын
You can do either of those options! Xlights allows you to connect props to a single port in almost anyway, or even connect a single prop over multiple ports (if it's a large prop). The only thing is you have to be aware of the max pixels your controller can support on a single port.

Awesome video as usual. Thanks for making this video. After watching your video I purchased 4 of them, Any chance you could share the model for them in Xlights?
@How2PixelАй бұрын
What I've done for this demo is just put in a "DMX general" model basically just allows you to control each channel, but doesn't show you much in Xlights. When I do set these up for next year's show, I'll probably use the "DMX moving head advanced" model. It allows you to actually visualize the moving head in Xlights and see it move in the sequences. Right now, I'm not quite sure how to set it up since I've never done it before, but once I do figure it out I possibly will make a tutorial.
