I was a lost, angry, and sad immigrant Latino teenager during the 90’s, and its music like this that showed me that there were people who knew what it meant to have pain and anger in their bones. To all you artists in the 90’s, to all of you who gave me meaningful music that helped me rise when I had fallen…, I salute you. This song speaks to me.

Listening to this now makes me cry. We lost DMX to addiction and Chino XL to suicide. Life is hard and can feel very punishing to where it takes an emotional toll you. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness or burdensome to people who genuinely care about you (check your circle). Black and Boricua men, please heal yourselves out there through counseling so you can be around for your families. ❤🖤💚 🇵🇷

@@tellaskennerson4233 Thank you, I'm 40 now and I bought a house when I was 21.I seen some ppl like Charlston White and others talking down on X and saying what has he done, he was just a dope fiend. But ppl just don't know that someone doesn't have to be perfect to have a positive impact on other ppl's lives that they never even met. When I listened to Slippin, it's like I had a big brother speaking to me and telling me how he went thru the same things I was going thru at the time. DMX never got famous and acted like he was above everyday ppl. It takes a real one to go 10×s platinum and still walk wherever he wants solo and get respect from the ppl.

A lot of people around me will never understand my feelings towards you, especially having never met you. I was just a little country white boy, but my first CD ever was Flesh of my Flesh, Blood of my Blood. EDITED because I was so young. You helped me through bullying, personal struggles, keeping my head up, loyalty, and everything else under the sun. I have spent so many nights with your music flowing through me, helping me and giving me confidence in life. My childhood, the Marines, tours in Iraq, and just daily life...you were there for everything....literally everything...I cannot listen to any of your songs without a flashback...you were there for everything... You touched the lives of so many people, from every background and every country. There's a lesson there, that you don't have to be from the hood to relate to you. White or black it doesn't matter it's all the same fight. You kept it real, always. You never changed. You were Dark Man X before, during, and after your heyday. You didn't let fame change you and I will always respect that...and I will always live my life that way. I could write forever about you and everything you have done for me, even to this day. You will forever be the ONLY famous person to reach me on a personal level. Chris Cornell is a FAR AWAY 2nd place. Thank you for everything you have done for my life and the lives of others...you helped so many people through their struggles who wouldn't be here today. Your prayers worked. So lastly before I keep writing... I honestly love you X. I have never really loved anyone that wasn't very close family or friends, even still...not that much. They never helped me like you did. And your music...your MESSAGE...will never die...especially with me around.

I rememwber being 15 and running the streets because I had so many problems at home and I just didn't want to be there. I always had DMX's albums on replay when I was walking around on cold nights thinking of which friend I could ask to stay over and possibly get some food from. I used to listen to this song over and over during that era, hoping that my batteries wouldn't die on my CD player cause I couldn't afford to buy any. Its crazy I gave my life to Jesus in 2010 and listening to this song again reminds me of how God even used DMX to help get me through those times in that difficult era. Praying for DMX that God helps him in every area of his life 🙏 Edit: The recent news about DMX leading me to pray for him more than ever.
