I have often wondered if my Grandma was an Orphan Train survivor. My G’Pa was born in Montana & we have genealogy back to England for a few generations. My G’Ma however, is a different story. She was born in Oklahoma somewhere. She had NO middle name. She had no family heritage except for 1 sister, that we know of. Her last name is strange to me bcuz I’ve never heard it as a Last Name for ANYONE ELSE!! Anyways > I’m wondering if they got to choose their names? Her first name was Ona. Ok? Her maiden name was Dye. Ok? = One dead 💀? Dead One? IDK. It’s just always struck us as a bs story…but one we knew we couldn’t push too hard on bcuz she’d get Real Mad 😡!! Anyways ~ Thanks 😊!!

If she was truly born in Oklahoma, she wouldn't be an orphan train rider. The question, though, is whether she was born somewhere else, such as New York. Do you know when she was born? What was the name of the family that raised her? What was the location of her childhood years?
