These are starting to have the same problem a lot of Toyhax sticker sets have: taking things too far for the sake of justifying them jacking up the price. This set could have easily been just the new crotch plate and gap fillers on the sides of the truck and it would’ve been great. But then it bulked up what was already a questionably bulky back end of the truck cab, added junk to the top, and then needlessly introduced partsforming and the single worst peg hole I’ve ever seen to the trailer, along with the laughably trivial foot lifts. This should have been a simple $15 set.

I'm with most everyone else- the kit has a few nice parts but a lot of junk, not really worth the cost. Sparkplug would have been preferable to the useless kibble. BTW the old butt plate folds up cleanly along the backpack, but the instructions fail to show it. It only shows up in a few random stock photos that only some online stores posted, but a lot did not.

Only pieces of this kit that I'd really use If I had to would be the truck door fillers and the front flap, so this is just not for me.

I've had this kit on my watch list for quite awhile since I've been waiting to find a reasonably priced Prime first. And now that I have the reissue of this prime coming in a few months. I'm glad to hear you finally do the review of this upgrade. I like it. It's just to bad those gun holstering connecters for the new hands don't stay well without gluing them in place. It sadly defeats their posability esthetics . They were better off making those hand weapon pegs able to fold down flush into the palm to use the openning finger gimmic. Oh well. Maybe next time. New larger chest plate and shoulder pads? All he needs is a football helmet, and he'll be ready for the Transformer Intergalactic Football League. LOL

I got this kit and installed some of it, I did put the hands in but then swapped them back to the original because he just cannot hold his guns in robot mode, those tube things are nothing but a hinderance, I also not put the new butt plate on as I don't want the hastle of trying to knock the pin out, last time I did that with a OP, it took me ages to get the pin out and even when the upgrade was installed, I couldn't get the pin all of the way back in, so I recomend the kit only for the other parts

The chest add on and split butt flap makes him look like a smaller naval commander. But most missed upgrade- WHERE'S THE RED EYES? Also thank you for showing him fully upgraded. Most pictures dont.

This is a very good upgrade kit, but I'm not bothering with the butt plate replacement. Pin removal and replacement is never clean and always strips some plastic. It's also a pain to accomplish.

Epitome of a lot of stuff that makes very little difference. Hip flaps are all I'd care about. Needed Sparkplug.

While it's fair to say this set does make improvements, they're in no way essential. It would've been nice if the kit did more for the base mode and added some Mini-Con positions. The red chest plate not only looks stupidly thick in truck mode, it's not even screen-accurate in super-robot mode.

The gun needs a replacement for the standard prime gun which has a built in slot grip handle then the hand will hold the big combined gun better

It’s stuff like this from DNA that makes me happy that their stuff is getting knocked off and having the 4th party treatment. The only really nice parts are the gap fillers, the skirts, and MAYBE the hands but even then you can find all of that done much better and cheaper elsewhere. It’s even more of a slap in the face when DNA does something like release an upgrade for Legacy Animated Prime at TWICE the cost of the original figure. It was ridiculous when the “upgrades” from DNA for SS ROTB Prime were as much as the figure itself but they’re really taking the piss with a $60 kit for a ~$35 figure.

To be fair, as it provides a trailer that combines with the base figure to create a super mode, similar say to City Commander from all the way back in the day with Classics Voyager Magnus the animated kit is functionally turning a voyager figure into a commander figure, the combined price of the figure and the kit are a little over the current price of a commander class figure, looking at it in that way, the price is somewhat reasonable.

I saw a post on TFW2005 saying that the new butt flap was too long to plug into trailer mode properly. Also, they also said his foot extenders weren’t flush with his old feet. Are you having these problems?

the butt flap makes the silhouette cleaner but it makes it less accurate to the show too, cus in Armada Prime had that much of a coattail as the original toy has so from the accuracy standpoint this is a straight downgrade lol

Such a strange kit tbh. The front skirt and hands of the super mode are great but the rest seems like DNA just trying to justify the price by adding more plastic. The bits to cover the hands in truck mode and extended side skirts in the base robot mode seem like a "solution" to a problem DNA created by extending the base thighs/super arms. Honestly might skip this altogether and get the Go Better Studio set for half the price =/

I'll stick to the Go Better Studios kit. It does what I wanted it to, and unlike the DNA Design kit, it doesn't sacrifice some of the accuracy in favour of unnecessary add-ons to jack up the price. A minicon in either kit would've been nice though.

The hand upgrade is rubbish .... Can't hold weapons . The back connection is loose , so you will have to use superglue trick to fix that. Emgo is right you don't have to waste money on this up grade. speaking from experience . DNA dropped the ball on this one .
