DNA Replication within eukaryotic cells is a tightly controlled process that uses several enzymes to create an identical chromosome in preparation for cell division. In this tutorial we will summarise the whole process, focussing on individual components in later lessons.

Your video is great, the overall process is well explained. However, I have to say I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of comparison with Eukaryota DNA replication. You explained the general replication of DNA, not of Eucaryotes. First of all, you didn't explain that DNA replication is a process that occurs in 3 stages : initiation, elongation and terminaison. You explained the elongation (and not for Eucaryote, SSB are for Procaryotes). You don't talk about origins of replication, topoisomerase, the Eukaryotic replisome (DNA pol alpha, delta and epsilon), the disassembly and reassembly of nucleosomes, the ORC and pre-RC and the terminaison. And of course, you forgot to mention Telomeres. So the title should be "replication of DNA in general".

+bertrand bouillon Hi there Bertrand. I try to keep all my video below 15mins if possible to get a really strong focus on important points. As this lesson is aimed at first year students, it is all the information they would expected to reproduce on an examination. You can bet I'll be making videos in the future on the roles of Telomeres and all the rest, but to avoid confusion, I only include the info that is expected of different college year levels. Thanks so much for the feedback, I hope my videos continue to be helpful to you in your studies! :)

Its not eukaryotic process its the basic prokaryotic process..... though explanation is good the title is misleading

Good video but Primase is not used in Eukaryotic replication. DNA polymerase alpha is the "eukaryotic primase" and RNAseH is the "eukaryotic DNA polymerase 1"

Great video, but I'd like to know if you have a more advanced one explaining the different types of DNA pols and being a little bit more profound overall. Cheers.

Your is outstanding... The process of DNA Replication become well understood by help of this video.. But i have to say im bit disappointed that there is no explaination why okazaki fragments are formed in lagging strand.. - via YTPak(.com)

It was really great.....you made DNA replication fun for me...Can you make a video on types of RNA and their function?please. It would help me a lot. If you can't then just suggest me some good video on youtube from any other channel that does. Thanks Again...

I'm a first year student and seriously, we've talked about different types of DNA polymerases, the helicase named mcm-2-7 and i was expecting some of that content. I already studied this process at this level of detail when i was still at school... Seriously?
