My mother discovered something similar. We live in Scotland now however my mother is Canadian through birth via her father. Her Scots mother married an Eastern European Manitoba man or so she thought whose parents had been there since the late 1800’s in Stuartburn Manitoba farming. However it turns out she has not one drop of Ukrainian DNA. No DNA matches to any Ukrainian family in her tree. No matches to her father’s Ukrainian side. Did baby switching occur often in 1915 there? Or is this rare? She’s extremely shocked and can’t figure out why as he wasn’t adopted and was one of 14 brothers and sisters. Did her Grandmother take in other families children and say she gave birth to them? My grandfathers birth was registered 7 months later in 1916. The birth certificate is as expected with my mother’s grandmother or former grandmother listed as mother. She has a match coming up as 1st cousin or half uncle with 13% DNA 900 Cm. What relationship is he to her it’s the top match?

I have a hard one ,not sure how to work it out my grandmoter had my Dad at 16 sahe said her sisters husband took advantage of her . I would love to find out if he was my grandfather but figure out how to deal with common dna on my grandmother side show i am related to his children anyway.

I sure hope that isn't the case. You should be able to tell if there is an inflation in the numbers for matches to that sister's children. If they are double related, their number will be double.

i did as you instructed ,also i caught that SMILE ; & wondered why... You look like sisters! i believe you already knew this of her so you'd not really been to surprised co-partner in crime! a DAngel founder & exe .director , i only read the first five lines. of course maybe the gingersnap cookies i'm eating *gobble ing * have something to do with my desire to see if i can pick up on these encourage ing moments. i have a real quest. that i hadn't delved into like a crazy person when i realized my trial time on my heritage ran into a yearlong subscript. i have a hand writ; history book which shows my grandfathers mother is a vonTrapp before she marries my greatgrandfather. what a mystery, to top it off Auntie ?so & so relates that realatives from austria, via stowe, carolina' desired to come visit their Aunt Hanna Aka JoHanna Rohde . lazy me have'nt writ the area historical library / museum. oh i love reading & watching old westerns.
