The Best Semar Rolling Classical Percussion || Ancient Gamelan Semar Pegulingan (DNA Family Bali)
The gamelan Semar Pegulingan, which is known in the Pure Chess lontar is called the Semara Aru gamelan, is an intermediate barungan that has a melodious voice, so it was widely used to entertain kings in ancient times. Because of the sweetness of his voice, the gamelan Semar Pagulingan (Semar = samara, Pagulingan = sleep) is said to be usually played at night when the kings are going to sleep (sleep). Now this gamelan is usually played as an instrumental percussion dish and or to accompany dances or theater.
Balinese people know two kinds of Semar Pegulingan in Bali: the 7 (seven) tone pelog and the 5 (five) notes. Both types of Semar Pegulingan are physically smaller than Gong Kebyar, as seen from the size of the instruments, the gangsa and trumpet, which are smaller than those in Gong Kebyar.
