Rest in powerful peace my favorite celebrity and homie of all time Robin McLaurin Williams 🙏 21 July 1951 ~ 11 August 2014⚘

Thanks for this post. I saw this live while working in Melbourne in 1988 or 89 and tried telling my wife about it when I returned to California. Great to find it on YT to share with her. There was more of him improvising before the clip picks up, where Robin's audio feed from Australia first cut out so he carried on interviewing himself until you see what the clip shows. Interviewer Jan Wendt was normally very professional but was just destroyed here.

Jana Wendt had a reputation of being a tough interviewer when the story demanded it. She had the nickname "the perfumed steamroller" because not only was she fearless in interviews, she refused to let aggressive interviewees rattle her. It's very rare to see her lose her composure this much, but then again if I was interviewing Robin, I would have a hard time keeping a straight face too. There's only a handful of people in the world that can be this spontaneously funny, and he had it in spades

I love how she kept saying "you can go", I'm sure he's never heard a journalist say that.

Serious Interview and Robin Williams Is An Oxymoron. He Was Hilarious and Spontaneous. I Loved His Comedy and Watching Him Live On Tv or During Interviews. I Never Got The Pleasure To Meet Him or His Great Friend Christopher Reeves, THE BEST Superman EEEEEVVEEERR.

In truth, I'm certain Jana would have loved nothing more than to have kept the 'interview' going for a lot longer, but she probably had the producer in her ear, telling her to wrap it up. What a truly charismatic soul Robin Williams was. He is still, so severely missed to this day... Thanks for the laughs Mr Williams!

It was almost a shocking interview because I dont think anyone in TV land had even seen Jana smile before that (Though I'm sure she was more relaxed off camera, but boy was she harsh when she had her teeth in an interview subjects neck. Jana was the real deal) , let alone be reduced to a giggling mess. It was a *VERY* funny interview

Jana Wendt was a brave journalist in her day. I remember an interview she did with Yasser Arafat, where she pulled no punches and Yasser giving her daggers, and at one point, putting her and her crew under threat if they were to ask ''inappropriate'' questions.. It was almost a yelling match. She's interviewed a lot of nasty people (Muammar Gaddafi, and other various dictators, murderers, etc), and copped a lot of push back from her own network... She was an outstanding journalist/reporter/interviewer, and was only 24 when she began carving her reputation as a no bullshit media person. That said, seeing her laugh with tears in her eyes is a rare sight. The magic of Robin Williams.

1::26 Jackie Stewart, i remember in the early 90's. Watching racing, and then he said, '' What a great, great day for motorcar racing '' ! with that heavy accent. Man, i nearly choked, laughing. Very good character, kind of like watching european soccer, and someone kicks a G O O A A LL. GOAL.

No. RW had quit coke by then. More likely his desire to entertain a captive audience that kicked in. And possibly he was in a manic phase of bipolar disorder.
